Title: Cruise
Post by: GaLRaCa on August 29, 2001, 11:32:20 AM
now that the weather is getting a little bit warmer out there I would like to get a group together and perhaps go for a cruise.  Would anybody be interested in meeting up in town on Saturday night and perhaps going for a cruise around town/Mission Bay, perhaps parking up around Mission Bay (perhaps on the side of the road and cause attention to ourselves)!   Those who are interested, please come along, there will be many outings coming up soon and I would appreciate input from anyone interested in any certain events so that we can organise these for the Summer months.

We will be meeting up at the Museum at 9pm on Saturday night!

Thanks !!!

I'm going to try and make it Saturday night.  But if I turn up running Toyota Corolla power, no laughing okay? :-)
If we cruise I might ride shot gun with someone.

Unfortunately I wont be there, as much as I would like to go...... but the deciding Tri-nations match is on and if the ABs play as well as they did last Saturday night, we SHOULD win!!

With the few emails i have received and obviously the response on here, the Cruise is now cancelled.  When this post was put on I had totally forgotten about the Bledisloe Cup game and so of course a lot of people will be pre-occupied with this i am sure.

I was thinking about holding the cruise next Saturday night, although it is the SDU Go Karting on the Sunday so of course people will be wanting early nights!

Please watch this space for the next Cruise.....perhaps a cruise to Rotorua is the way to go....:p

Yep, cool :)

I was going to suggest cancelling it also.

The Rotorua cruise was suggested some time ago, and it sounds like a great idea.

The Go-karting is at 2pm, I think everyone will get enough sleep- in to prepare for that.

Other events such as motor khana and orientation cruise/rally thing is on the cards I hope, and will be talked about at the next monthly meeting, which I hope to attend.

and finally.....

Go the All Blacks!!!!

Ironicly as Greg stated I did suggest that a while back and I am full on for this ! I have been there once and loved the whole weekend.

We should either look to make it a Sat morning cruise down and a sleep over. I am sure someone has to have some sort of contacts for rooms down there plus we get to spread the word of SDU while down there.

..unless of course there's an All Black game on that weekend. :-)

Two weekend's in a row cruises have been cancelled for various non-club related reasons Im guessing (not positive).  This club often lacks a lot of participation in events from other than the 'usual crowd'.  I'm one of these 'usual crowd' and was keen to cruise last saturday and this Saturday.  Seems as though that once aagin I'm in a minority I guess.  Bum.

I would be really keen on a Rotorua trip away for the weekend.  But to make it a success, I think we really need to make sure people are not just saying they are keen and will actually attend.  Just my 2 cents anyway.

Point taken Mr Meal :D

It is unfortunate that other events have been happening lately, and I guess with Summer coming up there will be a few more cruises etc happening.  I am putting a few ideas across to the Exec committee next week, but to be honest, I am relying on you guys as members to give me some feedback on dislikes or likes etc etc.... in the feedback post in General Discussion.  It does not matter how many times you email me, I will always pass on everybodys comments. :D

There is Go-Karting next Weekend on the Sunday, there is a cruise the following Saturday night and on the 23rd is the IDRAG drags at Meremere.  There are a few things happening and a few things in the limelight.....input from everyone would be a really big help.

Thanks!  :D

sounds like  a great Idea Debbie,

Something else coming up later in the year is the Super V8's at Pukekohe.  I'll be going to that definitely, if there are enough people interested we coula make that a club social event.  idea anyway, could guage interest later.  All these tracks days, drags day events are cool too, but we have to remember the family orinetation we strived to achieve last year.  Keep everyone included.  The party you guys had for a housewarming , it was good to see a lot of people bring along their partners etc.

One other possible cruise point and BBQ lunch idea could be Goats island marine reserve.  Fairly cool snorkleling with the fishes, but for those non-swimmers or not into that, a nice place to hang out, (in good weather), also a nice distance away for a cruise venue too.

Hey Zapf, has that Puke race track thing been and gone, did it happen, or was it cancelled. Is there another coming up?
