Title: Injectors + Ballast resistors
Post by: MDM on May 23, 2012, 05:53:06 PM
Im looking at some R32 GTR injectors for my rb30det with an old non vvt 25 head. Does anyone know or have a link on how to wire up a ballast  resistor??

Is that my best/cost effective option to use or are there better injectors i can use?

Cheers

Matt

Depends how much power you want to make, the rule of thumb for 6 cyl engines that i've been told is 450cc injectors will be good for around 450hp and 550cc injectors will be good for around 550hp and so on. So how much power do you want to make? GTR injectors are a good option but there 450cc or there abouts so they might be a bit small on a rb30det with a biggish turbo.

I'll try to remind myself to take a photo of my ballast resistor setup in the weekend and i'll post it up for you.

Hey mate, i dont really have a power figure in mind but would be well happy with anything close to 450hp. I think the gtr injectors will be fine. Cheers

i used MA70 injectors and x2 honda 5 cylinder resistor packs. honda one's are cheaper - i was looking for legend v6 one which would have made it easier but couldnt find one at pickapart at the time.

I have found these injectors im pretty keen on.

Just wondering which ones i would use so i dont need to use a resistor pack?? i will be using a 20det ecu with a nistune chip.

Cheers

These ones are 550's and 12.5 ohm's so they wouldn't need a resistor pack. Not sure if they will be a straight fit into the rail or manifold though.

heres a pic of my resistors that a1 turbos put in for me a few years ago couldn't find a gtr resistor pack so he used these.

my 26det has 510cc evo injctors and the old owner of my motor was running 450hp off them and aprently maxed them out

yea thats probibly about right. I'm not sure if that rule of thumb works for hp at the wheels or at the motor but its still round about correct.

Do the resistors have anything written on them? are they just wired inline? I thought they were usually wired in, in the engine bay but that seems like a better idea. How hot do they get?

Yea there just wired into the injector signel (power) wire. they dont seam to get hot atleast not that I've noticed. They probibly have something written on them but I havn't looked. I'll have a look next time im round there, my car currently lives at a different house to me.

Does anyone know where to get these from? If this guy can sell them for $10 each they must be available cheaper with a trade account,  Cheers

find out what resistance and wattage they are and goto jakar or rs components.
