Title: tidying up wiring looms - R32
Post by: sonoramicommando on January 23, 2017, 12:17:01 PM
I'm doing the weight reduction process and going through tidying up the wiring looms - a lot of wires can be culled when you don't have a/c, heater, stereo etc etc.
What would be the simplest way to do this? Basically the only wiring I'm interested in keeping is whatever necessary to run the engine. Can I ditch the whole bundle from the RHS of the car? It's been a bit of pain as I don't have a decent wiring diagram (the GTR one is better than nothing but really hard to see the wire colours etc)
Cheers
Sam

The simplest way (not the cheapest way) is to remove all the wiring and buy one of the wiring looms made for race cars which just have the bare necessities.
The other way is to rip out all the unnecessary wiring - usually easy to spot - and if in doubt snip the wire and make sure everything you need still works - otherwise solder and heatshrink  the cut!

thanks Bob - I'm almost there inside the cabin, might have gone overboard and possibly cut the wires I need as well...
I'll have to see how it goes.
