One reason you may want to relocate your steer rack is to stop your tie rods over centering after installing shortened / modified knuckles (https://i.imgur.com/7M4Phgth.png)

And I'm one of the ones who believe relocating the rack forward is a much safer option than using the offset  rack spacers.

With the crossmember removed, I've marked it like so.

Now where ready to cut, remove and move the racks mounting points 25mm forward

1st half of the cutting process done. Next step is to remove the 25mm gap I've marked, sit together and trace and trim accordingly.

Now to fire up the old trusty mig. You can use whatever welding method you want. I only have access to a mig. Also don't forget to clean the paint off the welding area. Because that can infect and make your welds look disgusting.

With it all square and tacked up. Lay as nice a weld as you can on the top side and bottom side.

Also it helps to weld in plates on each side to fill in the big gap left from moving the rack forward helping to gain back any rigidity lost.

Thanks. I'm not sure if any cut/ weld suspension components can be certed. Saying that, Gktech has a full bolt in knuckle. Not cut and shut. But there are certain guidelines about altering suspension geometry in the cert process, I'm sure. But for me, drift knuckle set up / angle mods is a track only mod.
