Kenny, Does that mean you're wife is racing too?  I think she should if numbers allows, more ladies on the track the better I say.

haha :)

Let this be a reminder, that all people who are coming, to get there at 1:30pm, and then everyone will get the low down on rules, flags etc.

I only know 2 flags, one of them is the black flag, but we won't talk about that one.

Hey, I just had a thought, don't want to say too much at this stage, BUT, seeing the we have only 10 so far, we can run a sprint series. They are awesome, and really good value for money. There wont be any teams, just you yourself and you.
This is just like a grandprix series. It is aimed at small groups.
But we will see.

so far we have:

- moondog
- mrmeal
- arithon
- kennydead
- spectre
- hairy buffalo
- tazdev
- razorgtst
- wraith
- bizkit
- gtst89
- me

Have I missed you, if so, let me know :)

greg  -  But I hate myself!  I'm a useless driver and I think I'd let my team down.  :p   Onmy own is cool, but if we get numbers teams are great also, I know it gives me someone else to blame anyway.:dfinger:

...Well that's what I kept telling myself last time. :jack: Trouble is, drifting is so much fun, but so slow. I don't know which is preferable.
Title: SDU Go-Kart night II
Post by: GSR32 on June 29, 2001, 12:42:20 PM
:D
some area's are costly and time consuming to drift, others it is an advantage to drift :)

gtst89 and bizkit - I have added you to the list

mrmeal - we will be running teams now, 2 per team at this stage.

Even though you said that everyone who had already confirmed does not need to reconfirm in this post, is seems as though a lot of people have reconfirmed.

Is it possible for a list to be put up so people can check for themselves if they are on it or not??

Cheers

Title: ringers needed?
Post by: moondog on July 09, 2001, 06:21:34 PM
Well? Is there any need for any non-members to fill out the afternoon, or do we have enough numbers? Just so I know whether or not to invite a couple of friends.
Title: SDU Go-Kart night II
Post by: GSR32 on July 09, 2001, 09:44:42 PM
Yep, sure, if you want. I needed to let the raceway know how many were going, but thats really hard, so I just say around 20, that will allow for a few extra to show up.

Is anyone else thinking of bringing friends?
Title: SDU Go-Kart night II
Post by: mrmeal on July 10, 2001, 09:03:10 AM
..I don't have any friends you guys know that!  :-)

mwah ha ha  less than a week to go.  Has there been some confirmations Greg as to what format we will be racing?  Or are you going to wait till the day, or just before to find out which would be most effective.  I'm not fussed eithor way.  It'll be a great one none the less.

TIP:  For those who did not race last time.  Word of warning, don't go wearing your Sunday best on the track okay?  I wore white shirt last time, and you do get the odd splatter of fuel/oil mixture.  Jeans and old t-shirt is all good.  From memory it was quite warm inside too.

Ladies and gentlemen....start your mower engines!
Title: SDU Go-Kart night II
Post by: kennydead on July 10, 2001, 11:33:52 AM
hahahahaa mover engines~

i might bring a mate along, not too sure if i am racing or not, not that i can affort it after a full service on my car. see how it goes....

hayden, sorry i cant make the swap, coz we think its the best idea to swap my old exhaust back rather then butchering them. i think i would keep the exhaust until i get a turbo car (hoping wont be too long) coz is not always i can get cheap stuff, as if i ask soichi to make another one, it would cost $800 for that system.:(

GSR32

Do they take credit cards at the Go cart place. Folding stuff is a bit short now
Title: SDU Go-Kart night II
Post by: mrmeal on July 10, 2001, 12:26:40 PM
no drama at all Kenny.  I just wanted to know which way you were going to go with it so I can make plans as required for my system.  That system will go well onto a turbo, but may in itself not be right up my line of things anyway, I'd be looking to throw a resonator in line there.  I'll catch you tonight anyway dude at Horse and Tarp.

As for Credit card at the track?  I know they take eftpos, so I'm guessing it would apply to credit cards as well.  Auckland raceway in the phone book, give em a call, always pays to be safe and check before hand ;-)
Title: Late call but...
Post by: Fusion Boy on July 12, 2001, 01:07:28 AM
I know its kinda late notice but I was thinking of booking the BBQ for after racing on Sunday if there are enough of ya interested in a sausage/drink and reliving the racing glory. I'll put on some sausies and bread etc, byo anything else that ya may fancy. Ties in with me birthday reasonably well and it would round out a pleasant Sunday thrashfest.
Email me or give us a call/text if interested.

Title: Apologies
Post by: Fusion Boy on July 15, 2001, 03:14:27 PM
To all my fellow Skyline nuts,
Most humble apologies for the no show of the promised BBQ. Unfortunately my son got quite ill during the night and it wasn't advisable to go out today. All ok now but a bit worrying at the time. Hope the racing was good and again sorry to disappoint ya's. Will most definately do the fry up sometime in the near future tho, will keep ya's posted.
Cheers

Post by: moondog on July 16, 2001, 01:26:08 AM
Fantastic afternoon!!!!!!! Thanks to Greg for organising it, and to everyone for showing up and making it a great event! I'm still in pain from all the drifting - maybe that's why I've woken up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep... Oh well, at least this time the pain wasn't the result of repeated collisions. :) My driving (and resultant lap times) were far better than my first attempt, which made me very pleased.

FB, sorry to hear about your son being not too well. Hope he's all alright now. Catch up with you soon.

Hey all apologies for not making it on Sun, but i had an unfortunate accident involving myself and some steel pallet racking, which resulted in 5 stiches and 2 black eyes, honest it just jumped out at me!!!:headbutt:

Hope all went well heard Greg won but the award went to Vince, glad it went o.k!!

Thanks to everyone who showed up, I enjoyed it :D, I was lucky to have a fast go-kart in the second race, and Bizkit opened up a huge lead for me .

Sorry to hear the news in the Spectre and FB camp :(, hope things are getting better :).

Those who did miss the action, don't worry, we will of course be holding another go-kart race in the near future

I discussed with a few SDU members after the racing on Sunday that we should have another club involved . I suggested the Nissan Silvia Club. That way we aren't racing against each other and we will get more people which will make for a much bigger and better event.

What does everyone think?:p
Title: SDU Go-Kart night II
Post by: mrmeal on July 16, 2001, 03:02:36 PM
damned fine idea!  Bit of friendly rivally, and we should organise the BBQ for after that one for sure.  I'll be in as the first to say aye to the event and second that motion of another car club, other options could be Nizan or Toyspeed.  They had a few carts there that would suit those Nizan gals/guys, Jon and myself got one of them in the second race, as most on the day will remember :-)  Everywhere we went it was sideways he he he.

Sounds like a really good idea, the Nizan Boyz are a really great bunch of people to socialize with....Count me in on that one i promise i will stay away from injury!!!

Great idea, Greg! I B Definitely in, and now that I'm not quite as slow as the first time, I won't be an immense liability, so I won't feel guilty about racing for SDU.

Spectre, sorry to hear about your face, man. :( :( Hope the SRT is back for the rematch.

Cool

I have emailed Big Phil, to see if the Silvia guys will be keen. We will see how much interest we get from them. We can also bring a 3rd club in also, eg Nizan. But I thought we would start with our brother, the Silvia.

Post by: mrmeal on July 20, 2001, 07:47:59 AM
yeah pics....there must be some side profile shots of me out there somewhere :-)

Kenny, you didn't do that bad dude, it's all good and hugely dependent on the car you get each time.  They are supposed to be set up very similar but we know better now eh.  Win or lose it doesn't really matter anyway (my opinion)  just get out there and do it!  I think if we organsie such a club vs club event we should have three per team at least, that way we can at least have really fast competive pit changeovers :-)  that'll be where you really win and lose the race, in your teams organisation at pits.

We could have practice pit drills in the weeks leading up to the event....hang on, getting far too carried away again ;-)

I'm keen as a bean what ever the arrangement.

Tony,  yeah, if you could try to avoid french kissing pallet shelves, beams, doors or anything else that could be hazzardous to your body before the event it would be beneficial :-)  I know I know, it does mean you're going to have to put your pervertions aside for a little bit, but comeon man it's for the good of the club!  Hehe
Title: SDU Go-Kart night II
Post by: SpotMe on July 20, 2001, 09:10:11 AM
I would be keen to race... I had a few reasonable times that I would like to improve on.

As for the idea of some pit drills, probably not a stupid idea as changing drivers does take a while!

Cool

Well, I have tried to get the Silvia club interested but have had no reply, so we'll forget them, useless bunch :o

So, I am going to try Toyspeed and Nizan drift club next.

Hey, if no Japanese car club is gonna be interested, I do know who to contact that WILL race us, that's the Holden club, but hell, I think we're getting desperate if we need to contact them.

I'll keep trying :)

OK you silvia boys, for arriving to class late, I want you all to do 100 push ups.

Just kidding.

No worries lads, I have the Toyspeed club interested also (well I hope they still are  ), so we'll make it a 3 club event OK, how's that sound :)

Here's a rough idea of what we'll be in for:

(This will vary depending on numbers of people attending)

This is based on 3 clubs, 9 racers from each club

- 2 races, each one 60 laps
- each driver does a 20 lap session (or there abouts) per race
- pit stops for driver changes
- cost $20 per race ($40 total)
- each club will have 3 teams of 3 people

:)

Any questions ???

The wahine took a few pics (and I got a few of Bizkit getting super-sideways), but they're still in the camera. They were to be developed this week after I took some pictures of my new car, but seeing as it's been living at the mechanic's...I haven't. :(

Well I think my driving still needs some work. I was rusty as hell and by time I got into it we got a car that suxed big time.... maybe I will go and do some pratice as that was the first time in a cart for me in over 16 years
