Stagea - the Skyline wagon / Stagea fuel consumption
« on: November 17, 2008, 09:01:53 AM »
From a 260RS point of view, I get average 13L/100Ks for normal around the town use, but if I'm real careful that can go down to 11.8L/100Ks.  I've found this car alot better on fuel use than the old RS Four I used to have.

By the way, the 260 in Targa Trim recently (ok, just got stickers on it! :) )

Stagea - the Skyline wagon / 6-Speed in 260RS?
« on: November 13, 2008, 10:21:14 AM »
Hi there,

Probably not the right place to ask, but if I wanted to put in the R34 6-speed gearbox in my 260RS, I take it it would just go in ok?

Also, is the gearing such that the extra gear is an extra gear, or is the end ratio the same as the R33 5-speed box?

At the moment mine does around 2500rpm at 100Ks, would the 6th gear take that down to around 2000rpm is really my main question?

Cheers
John

« on: November 07, 2008, 02:08:22 PM »
Hi all,

We have the event online now at http://www.groundsky.co.nz.

Joe did not retain his title, rather it went to Richard Mason in his Subaru (Car 955).

To check out the Nissan Skyline entries, here are the car numbers:

Car 951 - Joe McAndrew, R34 GTR
Car 997 - Tony Quinn, R35 GTR
Car 510 - Harold Honner, R32 GTS-4
Car 720 - Max Pennington, R33 GTR

Enjoy!

Cheers
John

Hi all,

Labour Monday marks the start of the Dunlop NZ Targa.  This year is the return of finishing in Wellington, rather than in Hastings.

On the Labour Monday, Manukau City Centre will be hosting all the Targa cars, so the spectators can see all the cars up close.  Also there will be two runs at a short prologue stage around the rear of the Manukau City Centre, through the carparks and buildings.  This is due to kick off at 2pm I believe.

The big news is that Tony Quinn has parked up the Porsche, and is running the new Nissan GTR in the Main Targa lineup (seen here in Targa Rotorua during the Narva Tour).

Joe McAndrew is back defending his title in the R34 GTR, so should be an interesting contest.

See the latest NZ Driver magazine for full details and maps, or http://www.targa.co.nz for up-to-date results during the week.

As per usual, http://www.groundsky.co.nz will have all the photo's online a week or so after the event.

Cheers
John.

General Skyline Discussion / Spotted: Nissan GTR on Targa NZ
« on: June 04, 2008, 03:47:34 PM »
Was down in Rotorua on the weekend photographing the Dunlop Targa Rotorua, and came across this in the Narva Tour part.

Apparently it belongs to Tony Quinn, of VIP Petfoods fame, it's brand new, and is going to be racing in the Main Dunlop Targa NZ field at the end of October.  Looks like he's had enough of his Porsche... and wants to go one better than Joe McAndrew's R34 GTR :)  Should make for some exciting racing...

Cheers
John.

Stagea - the Skyline wagon / Help Stagea stalling.
« on: March 18, 2008, 09:15:35 AM »
Hey mate,

I used to have the same problem with my old RS Four.  Driving happily down the motorway and it would cut out.  It happened soon after I got it, so the helpful lads at Croydons took it into Nissan who checked every electrical plug they could find (they get dirty etc. in Japan and on the boat over).  They cleaned everything, yet it still happened, though not as often.  Never really really got to the bottom of it actually, so just lived with it, and was aware of it when driving.  Usually happened on the cold mornigns though.

So, after all that, not too much help.  Have you reset the ECU to re-learn?  Disconnect battery, keep foot on pedal for 5-10 secs, then re-connect.  I found it did pay to do this every change of season.

Good luck.

Cheers
John.

Stagea - the Skyline wagon / Towing capacity?
« on: February 07, 2008, 09:09:55 AM »
The RS-4 Series 1 (only Auto's made, but easy to convert to manual) was a really nice drive.  I was told to not use the "over-drive" gear when towing though, so the auto wasn't switching the uppers gears all the time.  At 80Ks that's sweet.  I had mine for nearly 4 years, drove great after changing the shocks and rims, although I had to get the auto re-built after some internal solenoids failed.

Stagea - the Skyline wagon / Towing capacity?
« on: February 06, 2008, 12:36:30 PM »
Hi there,

On my old RS-4 I had a tow bar fitted from A1 Bars in Henderson.  Un-braked load of 600-800Kgs, and braked 1500Kgs.  That's the same for the tow bar (from the same place) on the 260 as well.

Stagea - the Skyline wagon / What is the weight of the Stagea??!
« on: November 30, 2007, 09:05:24 AM »
Yep, that would be right xtreem... mine is the same.  The RS Four (S1) was about 100Kgs less from memory... RB25DET and 4WD etc...

Filled it up the other day, first time over $100 too!  Bugger...

Hi all,

We've just launched our new website with the Dunlop Targa 2007 photos.

Found at http://www.groundsky.co.nz

Skyline's in action are Car 510, 598, 900 and 951 (below).

As probably mentioned elsewhere, Joe McAndrew and Sue O'Neill (Car 951) took out the overall win.

Enjoy!

Cheers

What are the better front slotted discs and brake pads please for the 260RS?  Just for street use, and the occasional once a year track blat.

Cheers
John.
