General Performance / Who to fit RB26 crank collar?
« on: March 02, 2012, 10:32:55 AM »
Hey, I need to have a crank collar fitted but unsure who to take it to. Is it a job that any quality machinest can get right fist time or do I play it safe and get a place to do it that has done many already? If I get anything right on this engine it has to be the oil pump and drive!

Introductions / New Member Welcomes / Rust:(
« on: January 20, 2012, 12:19:13 PM »
Hi, this situation does suck:headbutt:. Rust in my opion is the most damaging and most time consuming part of body work to get right. I've been a panel Beater for over 10 years and now am a automotive tutor and also passionate about skylines etc.:D
Buying a tidy shell and changing it all over will give you the best lasting result and the car will hold it's value far better than if a massive amount of weldng as been udertaken on yours. Once that much rust has been repaired, unsless it's been one to exteamly high standards ($$$$$!) Plus more $$$$, it will be very easy to tell it has been done and it's value will drop considerably even though you have just injected massive amouts of money into it. And may not last long if parked outside.
To do a nice job it would also be good to use donnor panels from another shell where is possible. That way you wouldn't have to fabracate as many from scatch.
There can be a huge difference in price for the same job. But the quality can differ by a lot also. There wouldn't be many panel shops that would be interested in spending the time necessary to make it nice. Go by repretation for this type off work if you choose to repiar.
Hope I haven't scared you at all! Thought I'd better put in my 2 cents!
Good luck with your decision.

It worked out well in the end. Was a good chance to fix up some poor repair work from Japan.

This is what happens when a large guitar amp passes through the back window when you "pop" the clutch showing off at a club after a gig!!!!!!!

So, I must come have a look, I keep forgetting so drop me a TXT this week and I'll pop up.  What time you get home?  I'll get one of the students to start unstitching the rail end. Which side is ripped up? Maybe post some pics up:)
