General Performance / RB20 Cranks
« on: January 11, 2010, 10:14:22 PM »
Is an RB20DE crank the same as an RB20DET?

If not, does anyone have a 20det one for sale? :)

General Skyline Discussion / Rebuild or replace?
« on: December 15, 2009, 05:29:04 PM »
Just picked up a reasonably tidy R32 gtst for next to nothing.
However previous owners said it ran out of oil, and doesnt start.
Can turn it over by hand - freely for about 3/4 of a turn, then its *really* tight. Checked the bores are clear.
I'm figuring bigends are stuffed.

Wondering what I would be looking at ballpark for a bottom end rebuild.

Or would it be better to just stick a 2nd hand one in?

Obviously rebuild will be the best option, but I'm trying to keep costs down atm.  If necessary I can do it myself, but tbh I'm lazy

Anyone know a decent place that wont charge the earth in the Waikato region?
Or anyone happen to have an engine (complete or just bottom end) in reasonable condition for cheap? :)

General Skyline Discussion / What's it worth?
« on: June 05, 2008, 09:14:33 PM »
Just wondering how much my car would be worth if I wanted to sell it now.

DTM Blitz, 18x9.5 265/35/18 rear, 18.8.5 235/40/18 front.
Bilstein coilovers with dobi springs.
Autobahn88 450x300x76 intercooler.
35% tints.
GReddy Profec B Spec S Boost controller.
Sard fuel pressure regulator.
Whiteline pineapples in rear.

Just shy of 200rwkw, cant remember exactly what it was.
Around 120k on the clock, serviced every 5-7k, garaged, always run on BP Ultimate.

So - what do you guys reckon its worth?

General Skyline Discussion / Z32 mags on skyline
« on: July 24, 2007, 08:51:54 PM »
Does anyone know if standard Z32 300ZX mags (16x7.5) will fit on a R33 gts25t?
Is the offset the same/similar to the skyline?

Forced Induction / compressor surge
« on: January 24, 2007, 05:14:07 PM »
Just put a greddy type rs bov onto my gts25t.
noticed it has a little bit of compressor surge (that annoying fluttering noise)
at present it does have a small leak around the bov flange, until i take it into work & seal it up.
ive blocked off the plumb back pipe.
the bov is currently set to reasonably soft, as this seems to reduce the flutter a bit.
only running about 10psi boost at the moment.
any recommendations on how i should have the bov set to reduce compressor surge without leaking boost?

Waikato / BOP / Meet?

Any plans/ideas?

Forced Induction / Anyone able to help me out?
« on: December 01, 2006, 07:13:46 PM »
S2 R33 GTS25t

So ive done a few basic mods:
FMIC, boost controller, fuel pump, pod filter.
Ran mint after being tuned, no worries at all, reasonable power.
Running 10psi boost, stable & good.
Then i went & did the exhaust (yes i know i should have done it first, had cat back before, did front pipe & dump pipe (with seperated wastegate pipe) this time).
Now its boosting to almost 1bar, about 13-13.5psi i think.
Tested wastegate, its holding boost/vacuum fine, opens at about 7psi, gradually opening wider until its open fully at 13psi.
Hooked wastegate directly to manifold vacuum, no boost controller in the loop, boosts faster/higher than with boost controller.
This is on a stock turbo/ECU/wastegate/bov.
Now ive been told a few different things in the last couple of days, ive been told that
1) sweet as, everything can handle that boost fine, but with no boost controller, wastegate hooked to vacuum, should boost to about 7-9psi (which it doesnt).
2) i need to get the boost lower so the turbo doesnt fly to bits - possibly solved by external wastegate, or a restrictor after the dump pipe (which completely defeats the purpose of putting it in in the first place).

Now, heres where i need the help. Any ideas what the problem could actually be? And what i need to do to fix it?
If i need a new ECU, thats ok, but i dont want to get one only to find out i need an external wastegate/new exhaust/whatever as well.

Thanks all

So I got a bit bored with my car.

DTM Blitz, 18x9.5 265/35/18 rear, 18.8.5 235/40/18 front.
Bilstein coilovers with dobi springs.
Autobahn88 450x300x76 intercooler.
35% tints.
GReddy Profec B Spec S Boost controller.
Sard fuel pressure regulator.
Whiteline pineapples in rear.

Off to get it tuned on tuesday, hopefully get a little more power out of it than i had before, but not looking for a huge amount at the moment.
Then off to get it certed too i guess.

Maintenance & Car Care / Headlight bulbs in R33
« on: September 26, 2005, 08:03:54 PM »
How the hell do you get them out?
also the park lights.
do i need to remove the whole light assembly? or is there some sort of sneaky way to push all the **** thats in the way out of the way to get to the light sockets?
if i need to take them out, is there more than just the 1 bolt at the top holding them in?
had a look today & couldnt see anything else, but they wouldnt budge :(
any help muchly appreciated.
