General Skyline Discussion / Mechanical Engineer help needed !
« on: January 06, 2013, 07:21:43 AM »
Hi all,

As the title suggests I thought I'd post here to see if there's any experienced mechanical engineers out there who might be able to help us out with our trailer build for the NSX ??

Here's a video of the type of thing we want to build  and need some help to understand what the exact design will look like so we can make the parts required so that trailer can lay down as required. I know the basic concept of having the axles on a cam type system, but don't have enough knowledge to be able to "reverse engineer" things from the video but I'm sure someone a lot smarter than me can help us out !! LOL

I don't mind if you do this for a business and invoice us for the time taken, in fact I'd prefer that to cash deals so everyones happy........ of course if you just want to be part of the team and help out for free then even better !!

We could purchase one of the trailers on the video from Australia, but they're pretty pricey even when converted from Aussie dollars and then to get it here and pay all the duty etc just makes it unrealistic........

General Skyline Discussion / A real life radar gun
« on: November 23, 2009, 11:09:04 PM »
Hi guys,

Know this is a long shot, but wondered if anyone out there has access to a radar gun capable of Ka band primarily, but looking to reliably test X K and Ka for a project I'm working on and hunting down police on the street to ask if they'll help isn't really ideal !!! :)

Obviously Wellington location would be ideal since I'm based here, but willing to rent the gear from someone and cover freight costs if someone can help out elsewhere in the country.

General Skyline Discussion / Custom R34 centre console
« on: March 08, 2009, 08:17:50 PM »
Hi guys,

Thought I might drop this on here to see what you think.

I've always wanted to be able to mount boost controller, turbo timer etc etc all nicely into the centre console but I've always had the hassle of the stereo there so didn't really have the room.

Now that I can control all of my music, navigation and that stuff from my MFD with my custom Car PC solution, I don't need the stereo anymore so I've got space to fit everything in. It's like an HKS appreciation society in there now, but I wanted to make it all match.

So after many nights of sweat and sometimes tears and some major help from a friend.......... it's finally finished and I'm absolutely stoked with the result.

The DVD works a treat and everything fits tightly.  Made one late adjustment and put a USB connector next to the FCON so I can plug whatever I might need into that like iPods or USB keys....... came out really good for a last minute thought.

Sorry the pics aren't up to the highest quality, but just wanted to show you so took it with what I could....... will get some better quality ones if people want.

General Skyline Discussion / Tyre pressure monitoring setups
« on: July 24, 2008, 10:09:38 AM »
Hi guys,

I'm about to buy a tyre pressure monitoring setup for my Civic and also replace the current one I have on the GTR and wondered if anyone else wants one as I've got an awesome price lined up if anyones keen, would help cover the freight cost if we split between a few of us.

System can cover either 4 or 4+Spare wheel depending on what kit you want. Comes with all wheel sensors and screen to display all tyre pressures and temperatures.

You can obviously set high and low settings for it to alarm you.

If I can get 4 or 5 people interested in the kits, then I can get the 4 tyre kit for $ 220 and the 5 tyre kit for $ 240.

Might be able to get it slightly cheaper depending on numbers and if people commit and they end up being cheaper, I'll only charge the cheaper price to people so might be closer to $ 200 and $ 220, but I've played on the high side as I can't be sure on freight till I know numbers.

I'm going to have to order on Monday next week at the latest so please let me know. Great for trackdays and general driving to be able to keep an eye on things. I've done some basic numbers on fuel consumption too and as we all know keeping your tyre pressures at the right level can help with that too and at those prices will pay for itself in a year based on average distance for a private vehicle.

I'd need to get some form of deposit or commitment from people before I order.

Some tech stuff

Pressure range - 0 to 73 Psi (Accuracy +/-1.5 Psi)
Operating Temp range - -40C to + 125C
Battery life - 5 years (new sensors are around $ 120 NZ for a replacement set of 4)

Committed orders so far

(few from NZHONDAS too)

General Skyline Discussion / Another R34 world first :)
« on: July 09, 2008, 02:29:59 PM »
Yes the good old R34's got life in her yet :)

Thought you guys might like to see this and maybe any R34 GTR owners out there might also want me to do the same to theirs.

Posted this on UK GTR forum this morning........... let me know what you think.

Hi all,

Well I haven't wanted to post anything here till I knew I could actually get it all working, but seeing the new R35's display with all it's new features, I figured why can't my trusty old R34 have all that cool stuff in it too and more.

So I've been working with a touchscreen supplier to be able to make my existing MFD screen into a touchscreen that I can interface with a specially made PC for the car.

PC is about the size of a small amplifier, runs off 12v so easy to install.

Size is about 30cm long x 20 cm wide x 8 cm high so easy to hide.

Has 100GB of free storage.

All in all I've now got touchscreen access to music, videos, dvd's, radio, internet, phone (via blueooth integration), satellite navigation (Garmin), Full OBD I and II integration, Tire pressure monitoring, full ipod sync support, Wifi, Bluetooth and I've even integrated my Valentine 1 radar detector so I can hide it, but control it from the touchscreen PC

Done a short little video and some screen shots to show you it working........... let me know what you think...... trying now to integrate my Tein EDFC controller and my boost controller, so I can remove all those from the dash and control everything in one front end.

Ok here's a few screenshots to give you an idea of what it's all like.

I've also update the original tour video too so anyone who's watched the old one might want to rewatch it.

SDU Central / First impressions of new R35 GTR
« on: May 14, 2008, 12:18:16 PM »
Well some of you may or may not know, but Brendon Foot in Lower Hutt received their new R35 GTR this afternoon and I was lucky enough to get told (thanks Simon) it was there so went down to have a look at it, talk to the dealer about it etc.

It's certainly much nicer in the flesh than they are in pictures...... still not totally convinced, but it's certainly done enough to make me rethink not having one on order.

Everything on it seems to be what I'd hoped with the R34.  Brakes are serious bits of kit, no need to upgrade here I'd suggest...... Exhausts look massive, but are just massive tips on average sized pipes, so that would need to go :D ........ wheels are massive, but look right at home.

MFD display is awesome........... such a nice resolution, nice size, touchscreen, more info......... brilliant.

No drive as yet as it only just arrived and needs to be PD'ed, but spoke to Brendan Foot and he's had it down the motorway this morning for a little spin anyhow :)

It's a Black edition too, so nice red trim seats and the darker 20" wheels........ colour, I'd describe it as a grey/bronze..... awesome reflective qualities in the sun.........really nice.

Engine sounds meaty even on idle and when rev'ed sounds really responsive...... can't wait to drive it.......

Those people out there who already own one are very lucky I'd suggest.......... from what I've seen so far, I think I'm going to be poor again for another 4 years paying another GTR off !! :D

They said give it a day or so and they'll put it in the showroom all nice and clean.

General Skyline Discussion / R35 Stagea ???
« on: January 27, 2008, 09:19:37 PM »
I know it's only a photochop job, but I think it's cool.

I seriously prefer it to the coupe !!!

With some professional design skills put to it, they could really make it something special to show Audi the way !

General Skyline Discussion / Can't see SDU with Vista.
« on: April 01, 2007, 09:10:15 PM »
Hi all,

This is a message to anyone who has a new PC with Vista.

Just got my new Ferrari lappy with Vista installed and I can see every other website sweetas, but with SDU it just seems to start loading, says done, but nothing appears, whole site is blank.

Anyone else with Vista having that issue ?  Works sweet with XP.   I'm assuming there must be a few people out there with Vista by now........

I'm just using default IE7 browser...........

Bizarre !!!

I've been playing this virtual racing website and it's good fun if you're interested in motorsport, especially Formula 1.

Well I can start a private game so that instead of playing other people I don't know, we can play each other in a private game, but I need about 20 people..............

Gonna post this around other forums to see if I can get the numbers up.

Just post back here if you're keen and I'll post details on how to enter.

Takes all of about 5 minutes a day to go through each session like practice, qualifying, warmup, then the race just runs itself based on your setup and guidelines.

Hi all,

Just wondering if there's someone who's an official or non official OS Giken supplier ????  Need a rebuild kit for a twin plate clutch.......non Skyline, but I'm hoping someone will know who can help here or even someone overseas they've bought from before....

General Skyline Discussion / Import Allstars........
« on: February 18, 2007, 11:20:38 AM »
Hi all,

Well after all the fluff over the HKS car it didn't turn out to be too bad a lineup, but unfortunately I think the track was pretty sticky.........

Even Reece broke an axle........bugger.........

Still Mad mike and Adam at the end doing a drift n drag battle was bloody brilliant, but most missed it as they'd left for the day.  Also the Nitro funny cars last run was amazing.....................6.27 and 6.28 how close was that......and I was lucky enough to be able to start them and some other of the races after I won teh peoples choice award and I'm pretty sure those Nitro funny cars rearranged my internals as they went past on the start........ :D

Did anyone get some pictures from the day ???

General Skyline Discussion / This is a must watch video........
« on: February 15, 2007, 02:49:21 PM »
I watched this the other night and it brings home a lot of facts that didn't seem to add up with the whole 911 thing..........makes you wonder just what does go on behind our backs....

For me, I'm totally sold on the conclusions of the documentary.......let me know what you think..........
