I am presently considering how to go about changing the diff ratio in the R32 GTR from the 4.11 to 4.375. Don't care for the top end or fuel ecconomy (it's a work car).

I am aware that the front and rear diffs need to be swapped and I am wondering about the easiest way to go about getting it all happening.Whats involved with changing the front diff center and does the R32 gts4 have the same front and rear diff?

I have heard that diff centers from various skylines are compatible I'd like to know from people exactly which ones are bolt in. Also from another angle how hard the ring and pinion are to change and what centres are compatible there.

Forced Induction / Project 12sec R33 GTST Daily Driver

I am keen to get the R33 into the 12's now, so I thought I'd detail my plan of attack. Just so people can track my success and failure as I mod down the path.

The objective is to get into the 12's with the stock turbo and intercooler without huge boost (hopefully 10psi or a snick over) and retaining stock or better fuel ecconomy and without sacrificing road manners. The factory ecu will be retained with just the S-afc.

Plan A.

* tune the Apexi S-afc II for additional horsepower and broaden the power band.

Plan B.

* add a HKS adjustable cam gear to the exhaust side at 4degrees retard. And retune the S-afc again. Set to bring boost on quicker not peak power.

Plan C.

* Change factory pulleys over to lightweight and slightly underdriven alloy ones. Just like the light flywheel, rev..rev..rev..

Plan D.

* Remove the fluid clutch style engine fan and replace with thermo fan.Removes drag and weight from the pulley, as above.

Plan E.

* Buy wider tyres for the rear. Aw do I have too?

Plan F.

* Use toluene. I use this when I get bored anyway, but I'll tune an S-afc map for it.

Each plan I will try to impliment with sepparate drives down the 1/4, to demonstrate the relative effects. However I will only proceed to the next mod if I don't reach 12.99, then again I probably can't help myself :D

For people who asked before about timeslip pics and things.

First here is a 13.6

13.4 @ motorplex last night. I can do it and now you can too!

Australia / Audi TT doesn't Beat GTST

Erm.. yes well I forgot to mention on the recently removed post, that the race between an Audi TT roadster quattro and my R33 occured on one of the many private roads I am traveling of a day, wherein the owners have granted express permission to race and all participants have signed waivers (coughs).:D

Audi TT quattro, now its not just the biscuit you can eat in your skyline.:D

Imagine that eating a quattro while eating a quattro?:D

Take out the euro trash!

General Performance / Cheap EBC project begins.

Well I've decided to look into using the stock boost solenoid to control boost by 'tricking' the ECU electronically.

I'm going to take some signal measurements off the solenoid to determine the voltage signals vs solenoid opening closing to control boost. From there I hope to get an idea of how to modify the signal to increase and decrease boost to my liking.

If anyone has the ecu pinouts diagram for the signals that would save me alot of time. Also has anyone had a crack at this so I don't re-invent the wheel. I may look at alternative replacement solenoids for better performance.

Stay tuned.:D

General Performance / Injector Upgrades on a Budget

What are cheap upgrades for RB25Det injectors (2nd hand off other vehicles)?

Can you go any bigger on injector size without touching the factory computer?

Forced Induction / Whats the most 'dyno' HP from std R33 gtst turbo?

How much rwhp have people got out of the standard turbine on an r33 gtst?

Australia / Do you drive an M3 beater?

Has anyone else had the satisfaction of beating the new BMW M3?

Or any other euro-trash?

I had just recently put on a 3' turbo dump and front pipe , when a new M3 helped me test the improvement twice ,on a private road of course (clears throat).

It was stock but, man do those things move! Then again they should for the best part of $150k.:D

Stagea - the Skyline wagon / Does anyone import Stageas

I was wondering if anyone knows of someone who brings these family wagon skylines into Australia (Perth)?

Chasing info on the turbo/manual versions.
