General Skyline Discussion / r32 head light
« on: March 10, 2018, 04:37:08 PM »
Head light wasnt going on one side but bulb was fine.
Traced back to switch.
With a wiggle could get both going.
So figured id take it to bits and clean it. Put it back in and it melted one of the plastic pins that push the metal pins.
Why would this happen?
Will have to find another one now but im not sure if it will fix the issue, i mean theres not too much to them.

Audio, Security and Electrical / r32 headlight not working
« on: March 10, 2018, 04:32:50 PM »
Hey guys.
Got an issue with left headlamp not going.
Has been coming on and off when driving and both lights cutting out completely at some times.
Think its the switch playing up.
I took it out today and gave it a good clean up on the 3 pins inside. Put it back together but still only had one light going.
Noticed soon after the switch was real hot so i took it apart again and one of the little plastic nubs that push the pins down was melted as so now i cant even put the switch back in. Any ideas why this is happening?

General Skyline Discussion / New twin plate clutch install - wont disengage
« on: February 13, 2018, 05:02:50 PM »
Hi
Replaced worn out clutch in weekend with a very expensive nismo copper mix twin plate and flywheel.
Thought all had gone well untill tried to drive away and can not engage any gears with foot fully down on clutch pedal.
Thought slave was bad so have replaced and bled and still problem remains. Has anyone else experienced this with twin plate clutches before?
Me and mate installed and went by instructions it was pretty straight foward. We are pretty good with that stuff we thought.
Do they need a longer rod or something on slave to push further or s there something wrong with the imstall?
Many thanks

General Performance / R32 no go no mo
« on: December 31, 2012, 05:26:53 PM »
Hi guys ive got a 32 with all the go fast bits.

Goes real good. Running a rb25det neo motor and a link g4. I got it re-tuned a few months ago now and they got 432.4hp out of it.

So iv'e been real happy with it and drove it yesterday went real good
Parked it up
Today its barely running.

Starts and idles fine but just before turbo kicks in it cuts out/backfires.
Hardly drivable.
Give it a good rev and it make a real loud backfire bout 3000rpm
Think its got a miss fire or fuel issue. Strange as its been so reliable for over a year now.

I checked all the obvious things. Its got plenty fuel coming through and it does appear to be running on all cylinders.
Got fairly new coils and spark plugs
I pulled a spark plug out and it looked way to clean. Too lean to me.

So anybody got any ideas before I take it in to get ecu plugged in to show whats going on..?

General Performance / Street clutch
« on: November 07, 2012, 05:43:46 PM »
gidday guys i've got a 432.4hp/382kw rb25t neo with rb25 big box.
It's got an exedy 5 puck clutch that is awful to drive. Really rattly and in or out.
Thinking about splashing out on a twin plate setup
They come with a light flywheel as well.
I want a nice drivable one as it's a street car but also one that will handle that high power. The 5 puk is barely holding on and the puks keep breaking on the rivets that hold them on.
Whats the nicest clutch kit for high power street use?

General Performance / 3 port boost switch solenoid
« on: May 12, 2012, 07:03:04 PM »
My r32 has this 3 port boost solenoid with the middle hole venting to atmosphere. I didn't install it,  it came with the car

Lately it has not been running very well (detonation maybe, pausing for a
second while boosting)

The solenoids meant to have a filter muffler thing in the unused port, but it doesn't. And Iv'e just noticed air is being sucked in to it. I only noticed because it's quite loud sucking and I'm sure it never used to do it. So my question is - is air meant to be sucked through that port? or blown out?

Suspension, Steering, Braking, Wheels & Tyres / Adjustable camber arms
« on: April 07, 2012, 07:05:34 PM »
Got these shiang-I racing adjustable arms today. (for r32) Wanted them for some negative camber.
Wound them all the way in but when I put them next to the standard ones they appear to be the exact same length. Whats the deal with that?
Do they only make them for positive camber?
Unless I take the locking nut off the end then they are no better than standard ones for negative camber right?

General Skyline Discussion / Bent subframe
« on: March 30, 2012, 06:15:35 PM »
Hit a curb in my 32 quite hard.
Snapped my wheel and bent the LCA arm and the traction arm quite obviously. I have replaced these arms and got a new wheel but it doesn't sit right now and has slight positive camber. Took it for wheel alignment and it couldn't be done on that wheel.
The subframe does not look bent but the bracket from the LCA arm has popped up a bit when the arm went up.
So I'm wondering if this can be fixed with adjustable camber arms and traction arms to get it right.
Or will I have to replace the subframe? And has anybody got one for sale in chch? Hicas
