Maintenance & Car Care / How much noisier without interiors?
« on: October 08, 2016, 07:04:53 AM »
Hi all,
Just wondering how much noisier it is going to be without all the interior trims, door cards, headlining and the carpets (+any sound deading mats etc)?
Is it just a matter of increased noise level or does it actually introduce droning (which would be a real pain)?
cheers
Sam

Thanks guys - I am aware of the tapped and plugged oil port on the exhaust side for turbo and the return port below.
Are there any more?
I think the oil pressure sender is 1/8" BSP, which is a bit too small.
Cheers,
Sam

like 1/2" NPT ready tapped to main oil gallery from the factory that I can borrow?
cheers,
sam

^ thanks dude - I'm getting it done this weekend by Ryan. Good to have options though.
Speaking of options, I vaguely remember people shimming up VLSD and essentially locking it - if it's tight enough it surely can't be legal, right?

^ Thanks dude
I'll check out the source of the leak, the weather is not cooperating, as the car sits outside.
I suppose I could just turn up and see what happens - if can't race for whatever reasons, I can always watch other people going fast with envy... ;)

a few n00b questions - apology in advance:
- Is scrutineering quite a bit over and above WOF stuff? The car leaks oil a bit when parked up, is that sort of stuff going to be a problem?
- Is motorcycle helmet acceptable? Mine's a flip-up type (like the bike cops wear).
- Is old (but clean and freshly laundered) workshop overall acceptable?
cheers

ps wow 900 posts! most of them must have been either BS or questions as i still don't know jack... ;)

good luck with your ventures

You're not the first - Whites in Otahuhu offered that service some (well quite a few) years ago...but its still a great idea and could be very useful depending on the pricing.
Bob, so these guys aren't in the business any more, I take it?

I'm in Auckland and I have a spare (maybe a couple) of R200 diff centres so I'm thinking I'll get them welded for skid fun.

Maintenance & Car Care / Re: R32 - Interior Temperature Sensor

ok i hooked up a toggle switch and my theory was correct. regardless of the a/c controller temperature setting, open circuit blew hot air and closed circuit cold air. perfect!
