Stagea - the Skyline wagon / Front seat replacement
« on: March 08, 2011, 02:49:17 PM »
Is there an easy replacement for the front seats on a C34? i.e. will bolt in using their own rails (without serious modifications) or using the stock rails?? e.g. R33 or 34 GTR seats.? Or BMW E30!

Maintenance & Car Care / Primera Trans
« on: February 24, 2011, 02:15:15 PM »
Sorry this is not a skyline but a friend is having trouble with the variable auto trans on a Primera - does anyone know a good auto trans shop or Nissan dealer with a good record on this type of trans?

General Performance / Link Display Unit
« on: January 19, 2011, 09:12:59 PM »
Has anybody got one of the Link displays? How big is the screen and can you display two things at once in reasonable size e.g. oil temp and water temp?

I am trying to choose some gauges for my Stagea. Apart from the boost gauge I want oil pressure, water and oil temps. All the triple gauge holders seem to be 2in (52mm) whereas I would really like 2 5/8 in to make sure I can see them at a glance when on the track but sticking three of those on top of my dash would block half the windscreen.

I thought a good compromise might be to get a set of 52mm gauges in a din holder and then use the Link display to show the temps when I am on the track. I am not so worried about the oil pressure becasue I have got a low pressure cut-out (controlled by the Link).

So what is the view of the Link display like anybody?? Nice and clear or smaller than the 52mm gauges? I thought that on the track I could stick the display somewhere handy to my line of vision and then put it out of the way and rely on the triple gauges on the road!!??

Off-Topic / NZs highest paid executive drives a ....
« on: November 20, 2010, 08:29:06 PM »
What does Westpac CEO George Frazis, New Zealand's highest paid executive with a $5.59 million pay package, use to get to work from his Paratai Drive mansion? A Nissan 300zx (NZ Herald, today).

Perhaps someone should suggest that there is room in his garage for a new GTR as well!

Off-Topic / Boy racers - really
« on: October 23, 2010, 05:18:36 AM »
I drive a container truck on the nightshift. I was crossing the Newmarket Viaduct this morning at 0115 observing the 70k limit when three cars shot past (and Evo a WRX and a Silvia) and then fanned out one in each lane. Not content with slowing down they all hit the brakes and slowed to 40k for a few seconds and then someone must have said "go" and they all dragged off intothe  distance.

At 44 tonnes full weight i can tell you my truck doesn't stop as well as a 4cylinder hand grenade and I only just managed to avoid going over the top of the idiot in front of me who seemed completely oblivious.

What really gets me is that if I had hit him it would probably have been me that got the ticket and the blame for the smash.

Apart from the fact that you can get on to the pukekohe racetrack 2 or 3 days a month if you want to race if you must race on the street you would think people would realise  a busy highway is not the place to do it.

I am sure no one on this forum would pull a stupid stunt like that.

Forced Induction / GT3076 v GCG Highflow
« on: December 31, 2009, 08:14:28 PM »
Hi guys
I'm no expert on turbos. I have a GCG highflowed turbo on my Stagea - the only specs i have are that it is an R33 RB25DET housing highflowed with new ball bearing centre T04e compressor wheel and Stage 3 T3 exhaust wheel and was originaly rated at 450hp. It bolts up where the stock one goes and uses the original oil and water lines. The most I have seen from it is 245awkw but it would benefit from a better intercooler.

I am getting an RB30/25 engine and figure that to get to my target of 330awkw I will need a bigger turbo. I see NYTSKY's (who hasn't read his build thread?) GT3076R is for sale at a good price but I wonder if it is really much better than my one? I know he has made big power on E85 but less than 300rwkw even with hotter cams. Does anyone think it will make 330awkw on petrol with the RB30 or should i just see what my current turbo can do and then buy a bigger turbo still if its nowhere near 330?

General Performance / R34 GTR diff
« on: December 28, 2009, 03:04:55 PM »
Is it easy to tell the R34 GTR "active lsd" rear diff from the mechanical one? I want a taller final drive as well as stronger transmission for my Stagea. I have managed to find an R34 GTR front diff (3.545:1) and need the same for the rear. The Stagea won't have the ability to manage the "active lsd"  that some GTRs had so I need a mechanical lsd (3.545:1 as the Attesa requires the same ratio front and rear). Any information welcome and especially if anyone has one for sale or knows where i might find one that would be great!

General Performance / CAS alternative
« on: December 19, 2009, 03:00:46 PM »
Following a report from another member that the Link had a problem reading the RB CAS signal I contacted Link and got the following reply: because the RB CAS is belt driven it becomes unreliable at over 8000 rev/min (which will affect any ecu) and the solution is a crank mounted sensor.

My engine will not be exceeding 8000 rev/min but it seems to me that if the signal is not good enough at 8000+ then it will be less than perfect at 6000 -7200.

Has anybody fitted an alternative to the stock RB CAS? I seem to remember reading that some earlier RBs had a flywheel mounted sensor or was that for something else?

Maintenance & Car Care / RB26 flywheel on RB25?
« on: November 01, 2009, 04:25:05 PM »
Does anyone know if the RB26 flywheel fits on to an RB25? I am getting an
R33 GTR box for my Stagea and wonder if the flywheel off that engine will fit my S1 Stagea (s2 RB25DET).
