Maintenance & Car Care / WOF issue
« on: July 28, 2008, 05:38:18 AM »
There is a HKS super quiet exhaust in the classsified section of this forum - don't know if it will fit your car but it looks good -bit pricey though.

General Skyline Discussion / Pre-accident Evaluation
« on: July 27, 2008, 03:45:37 AM »
Quote from: arch6;475601
I recently had a car accident and wrote off my car.
And the insurance company said I needed a "pre-accident evaluation" if i want to dispute the settlement.

Anyone know where I can get (or does anyone work in the industry that can get me one?)
I've rang quite a few different car yards, and none of them do it.

Any help would be appreciated.
:)

Look in the phone book Yelow Pages (the hard copy book, not the internet) on page 2317 for a list of motor vehicle valuers. They will look at your vehicle and check out the mileage, general condition of the undamaged parts and give a written estimation of the value before the crash.

General Skyline Discussion / AA Pre purchase inspection
« on: July 27, 2008, 03:35:08 AM »
I presume you have the name of the inspector and I hope you have a witness. I would
1. Get an estimate from a panel and paint shop - you might be surprised at the cost.
2. Write to the General manager of the AA telling him that one of their employees has damaged your car and asking for payment  (they can claim from their insurers if necessary).
3. Write to your insurance company enclosing a copy of the letter and telling them that if you don't get a satisfactory reply from the AA you will file a claim and expect them to get payment from the AA or their insurance company. You should not lose your no claims bonus or have to pay an excess if your insurance company can get the money from the AA or their insurance company (which they should be able to do).

Forced Induction / R34/VG30DET turbine housing on R32/33 turbo
« on: July 24, 2008, 06:52:49 AM »
I was going to get an R34 turbo and send it to GCG to get highflowed. They give about 20 more KW than R33 but by the time I'd done all that I could just about buy a HKS (only looking for 200 to 220 AWKW with long life reliability). Can anyone recommend someone who could do a ball bearing highflow for RB25 (R33) type turbo in Auckland and would it be less than $2000 (with ball bearings)?
Thanks

Just for some balance I had a really good run with my 1977 non turbo Stagea - bought at 130,000 and sold three years later at 180,000 still going perfectly. Only repairs (other than consumables: oil, filters, brakes and tyres) were a new radiator and new heater element. The neo went quite well but have now bought a RS4T and have upgraded brakes, suspension and am working on the power upgrade.

General Skyline Discussion / Gull Force 10 (E10)

Sorry i didn't do chemistry - didn't know about ethonic acid but Gull claim that they have a corrosion inhibitor that takes care of it. I drive a Stagea RB25DET and have had no problems so far

I am using Gull Force 10 ($130 to fill). They claim it will rid your system of water. Why would it be corrosive -its just petrol with 10% ethanol? (Ethanol is a dairy by product which is the base for many NZ bottled spirits)I would be interested to see a lab report of its Research Octane Number.

The main reason I use it is because it is cheaper. A secondary reason is that when I get stick for running a heavy gas guzzling wagon I can say - "but its running on biofuel" !
