Deep dish rears on R32/33. Any good?

Anyone got deep dish rear wheels/tyre combo on their R33? I'm thinking of 11" wide trear tyres.

1. Can you launch considerably harder in 1st or is it just a little better than say 7.5 or 8" rears?

2. How expensive?

PS: A friend of mine was telling me we can put supra wheels on the car. Really wide at the rear.... but I think it will kinda look bad.... Supra weels on a Skyline :laugh:

Hey air ,

 They wider the tyre you have the more contact patch the tyre will have to the ground so it should give you more traction ,but if you are just looking for betrer launch ,as in drags ,a wide low profile tyre (eg 300X35) may not be the best for a hard launch and a tyre of say (250X60 or even 70) may launch harder. Because the tyre will tend to fold over itseld and put a bigger foot print on the ground then the 300x35 because of its profile.

But if you put the 250x60 on your sky it would feel like it was always loose when turning because the side wall will roll and not hold its shape.

My dad was a tyre man for like 30yrs so he taught me some stuff lol.

air, you'd be hard pressed fitting anything larger than 9 or 10" on the rear... i have 18x9's on the back and they are inline with the rear guards, so i can't go any bigger.

i have deep dish rims too, you've seen them eh?

has anyone fit 11inch wide wheels on a r33 gts25t? 255 tyres

I have 18" x 8.5" all round with 235/40 x 18's. Drives nicely, steers nicely. I could have gone with a staggered fitment, with 9.5" rims on the rear, but without rolling the guards, a maximum tyre size of 255/35 x 18 was the largest that would fit under the guards. (Car is lowered on Tein springs)
I decided to stick with the same size all round, liking the extra option of being able to rotate tyres.

i have 8" rims on the front and 9" deep dish offset on the back. they make the rear tyres look fatter than they are with the large offset. another thing to note is that you need a fair amount of offset on large width rims to ensure the wheel doesnt snap the rear axle off at the rear hub. too see what i am talking about, look at the rear wheel of a lamborghini diablo. if the wheel ofset wasnt as deep as it was you would be shearing axles in no time. they look nice but is it worth your wheels coming off at 60 kmh over a railway line with a full tank of fuel? i reckon stick to the 9"s they look tough enough. thats if the GTR badge isnt tough enough already.

you cant put 255 wide tires on 11" wide rims. They are way to narrow. Ive got 255's on my 9" wide rims

I don't think 11's will fit on a r33 gts25t without some gaurd flaring.

ive got 9.5" deep dish, with 265s on the back of my r33 25t.
lowerd on bilstein coilovers - about 2" lower than standard (more actually i think, cant remember exactly).
only needed *slight* guard work (really just rolled the lip a bit) to fit without rubbing at all.
and i think staggered fitment is the way to go

I've got some nice deepdish rims on my HR31 GTS-X coupe, and the staggered fitment does look badass!
