R33 Series I or II?
« on: April 24, 2002, 05:57:02 AM »
hi guys, i was thinking abt getting a 25t next year, but i dont know whether to get the Series I or II, i'm wanting to (hopefully) put on a R33 GTR body kit on it, so i was wondering which shape would be better 4 it, and are there any differences in performance and their specs?
any info would be much appriciated
thnx

I think the shape of the front of a spec1 is closer to a GTR than the spec2. The spec2 will generally be a bit quicker because the engine isn't as old, and the plastic compressor wheel in the turbo that spools up slightly quicker...

sweet as then, i'm only worried abt the shape coz i'm gonna do heaps of mods to the engine, so the small difference in performace is alright

Not that uncommon, I don't think. Nissan seemed to mix and match series I and II parts as they approached the changeover from series I to II. So 1995 series I whales are probably not unlikely to have  some series II bits in them - including the engine

My 95 GTS25 has a series 2 engine in it as well - or at least I think it does.

Apparently the main clue is the lack of an ignition amplifier mounted at the back of the rocker cover. The series 1 has this mounted on 4 short posts, the series 2 has the posts but nothing attached to them.

Or so I'm told anyway.....

Not too sure if there are any visible differences in the turbo housing, mine is missing the -t so I can't comment!

hopefully Nissan put enuff Series II engines into the change over period Series I bodies ^^
