Im not sure if this has been posted before but I suggest you all read what Nissan is doing to poor old Mr. Uzi Nissan for owning the site http://www.nissan.com

Basically Nissan Motor Co. is pissed because they dont own the domain http://www.nissan.com and are trying everything to get it.

Its another one of those stories about big corporate companies domination over the world.

This story has changed A LOT of peoples minds about purchasing a Nissan, as you will see if you read some of the 450+ comments left by the public in favour of Mr. Uzi Nissan.

Feel free to express your opinions on this matter....

Yeah thats what everyone cant understand.  Just offer the guy $1million and im sure he would give up the domain.

Basically they just want to make the guy bankrupt i think.

I'm sure he would have known when he registered the domain that Nissan would be interested in it...
Complain as he may, he is simply a cybersquatter. The problem isn't nissan or big companies in general, it's cybersquatters and human nature... If you didn't know nissan's URL, what would be the first thing you'd type in? That's the problem... it's taking you to a totally unrelated site.. Most big companies have their domains, so you expect to be able to just type it in.
this Uzi guy would be getting 99.99999% of his website traffic from this, so he has nothing to complain about.. even if he never sells the domain, he's getting a bulkload of free traffic which he doesn't deserve.
Being in the internet industry, I have absolutely no sympathy for cybersquatters... They're opportunists that are making it hard for us to use the internet just so they can make a free buck.

I get what ya mean and totally understand...
but this Uzi Guy does deserve a bit more respect than those squatters.
Reason for this is his last name is NISSAN and he had his business etc etc and family background etc etc...so i suppose he would have a case against Nissan Motors..

when i mentioned registering http://www.microsoft.com before MS got it and then selling it to them, fair enough, thats a squatter case and a half...and wouldve been me trying to get a free buck...

I saw this same sort of thing when I tried to go to the Survivor site!!! (me being Miss reality TV junky hehe)

http://www.survivor.com
is a software company who registered the domain 5 years ago (before the Survivor show was even thought of) but the CBS network have been trying to bully them into giving up the rights.

CNN article from about a year ago gives a quick rundown:
http://www.cnn.com/2001/TECH/internet/02/09/survivor.com/index.html

their hits went from about 180 a day to as high as 122,400 LOL!!!
their site has ads and crap all over it now...no wonder!
