I also went for a dynatron but cost me a fair few $$$ as they had to fit a drivers side lock motor to make the central locking work. It has a two stage engine immobiliser, glass break sensor and I optionally had a microwave sensor fitted also.

MY VERY BEST RECOMENDATION here is that you should consult with your insurance company before you buy, see if they have a recommended brand and whether or not they provide benefits for using it. The sole reason I chose dynatron was not because it was cheap or value for money or top of the line, but because if my car is ever broken into or stolen, I pay no excess on my insurance (normally $500) and my no claims bonus is not effected. If the car is ever broken into, it effectively pays for itself with the no excess benefit.

Another thing is to check what standards the alarm has - the dynatron's have had both NZ and Australian standards testing approval.

Toad is another brand I have heard of but I know absolutely nothing about them.

Here is an interesting link that explains some features to look out for in alarms and compares a few brands.
