When:  Sunday 9th Sept (TBC)

Where:  Auckland Raceway

Cost:  $40

Who:  Anyone from SDU, Silvia Club, Toyspeed club

I checked the calendars and saw this date to be the best. We have heaps of time to prepare, so lets make this one a BIG one.

Big Phil - is this date OK with you Silvia racers?
Wildcard_NZ - is this OK with you Toyspeed racers?

Cheers

Greg (GSR32)

Yep, 9th of Sept sounds good.. There isn't an F1 race that weekend so "Mika", "Michael" and "David" should be able to make it.. :D

I've emailed everyone and at last count we had about 9 or 10 people keen..

Phil..

oooh bugger me sounds like they might start to outnumber us.  C'mon SDU lets get some good numbers, if not driving then supporting.

I'm in on the SDU front.  Happy to offer services as pace car if required :-)

what you umming and err'ing about mr Dead, I guess that's your way of saying you're in? :-)

It'll be all good.  Teams racing, so it gives you plenty of people to blame ;)

How many cars per club again Greg?  It was two races as well wasn't it, so maybe we could accomodate one set of teams for each race if required?

Awesome.

I have booked the track, it is all on.

2pm Sunday 9th september

It would be good to have at least 10 people from each club. Team numbers and number of teams per club, depends on the number of people we get on the day, so we'll have to wait till then to know that.

**** NOTE ****

I am a little concerned that many people are not sure about coming because they feel they might be slow and hold the team up, or they have a weight disadvantage.  This is really sad :(  It is not about being the fastest or winning, it is all about having fun and enjoying it. No one is going to give you **** if you hold your team up or spin out on the last corner when your team was winning.

From now on, I am not accepting these as an excuse, because quite frankly, that's not idea. I would still race if I was given a huge weight penalty.

We are going for the fun of kart racing, not to win.

**** A bit of blah, blah,,,****

The cost issue:

This is the cheapest form of motorsport, it is heaps cheaper than proper outdoor go-karts even. Proper go-karts cost around $10,000+, and the engines need a re-build every 3 hours of racing, which costs $1,000. In fact, buying a proper car and racing at Puke is cheaper than proper go-karts.

The safety issue:

This is the safest form of motorsport. When accidents occur, you generally only receive minor bruises.

Vegie - where are you???? You missed the last one dude, you in??

GSR32, Mate, I agree with you totally !!
The more people we get the better it will be.. I'm one of those who is disadvantaged by a lack of talent and excessive size (6 Foot 9" Tall ), and I go karting any chance I can get..

Lets make this a major event that other clubs will envy.. Hey you never know, it may be the start of something interesting.

Catch ya's..

Well said Big Phil and Greg. For my self I am an out of shape old man compared to all these young 20's blokes and up until our last carting event was the first time I was in one since 1988! I had heaps fun, got banged up but at the end of the day was the best day because it was with friends :) having heaps of laughs and fun.

Absolutely true, guys. I be definitely in - sorry I haven't posted so until now. Though I was in stupendous pain for a while after the last one, until my grandmother got the acupressure going. Good pain though; satisfying - and one of the three good days I had in the month of July; I am soooooooooo glad it is August now. :)
