rb30 spigot bush
« on: November 23, 2004, 05:46:20 PM »
has anyone had any probs with an rb30 spigot bush pb22?
i bought one from b&t and tried to put it in but it didnt look like it was going to go so i measured it and it measured 20.7 o/d 16 i/d but the hole in my crank is 20 and the input shaft is 16 so even if i bash it in id still have to bore out the inside, so i took it back and they said they had sold 3-4 in the last 6 months and havent had any back.
does anyone know whats going on or what bush to use?:splat:

sorry i dont understand did you use this bush?

it might be the right bush but .7 interference is massive for a 20mm bush.

The brass bushes are a reasonably firm fit, never measured one to see what the OD is but that does sound like alot. When tapping it in make sure you hit it all the way home to the step.

I just bashed one in on saturday.. normal nissan one.

Go to Cockram and get one if you are unsure, they should be a tight fit though.

You guys are pulling the auto one out.. ? :)

I would have taken one.. but it's pretty simple.

You need to get a puller and remove the Auto spigot.. it's different and you can't actually notice it by looking..
You will see a slight lip if you look in there, thats where it needs to be pulled from.

Then you just hit the manual bronze spigot in until it is flush with the lip..

The auto spigot bush is the steel ring that is the back of an auto crank. This must be removed before you can fit the manual brass bush. drill into it in 2 places 180degrees apart withabout a 4mm drill, it will easily collaps and come out, then the brass bush needs to be tapped in all the way till you hit the step in the back of the crank

Not sure if it'll work with the auto bush but a method I've used is to fill up the hole with grease and get a round piece of steel and hammer it in.  The grease pushes the bush out.
