hate to brake it to you, but RB30's werent DET's. They are a single overhead cam engine.
They were just plain old RB30ET

when my rb30de with VVT is finishd. im hoping in time for the airtothere show in march ill send you pics and specs that you can put on your website. any advice/parts will be of great help. i have seen your website. its a nice looking site.

i stil only have the block bare tho :( cus im waiting on rb25de pistons, a flywheel so i can get the crank ballanced cus i dont think my rb20e gear box will handle. a head cus sounds like the one i was going to get is a bare head so no use for me

yup they do. they increase the compression to 10.5ish insteada like 8 or 9.
my rb30de is alot further along now.
iv got almost all the parts needed to get it in the car and running bar clutch, starter motor, headers. i think thats about all i need.
the motor will be getting built up next week and i should have it in the car in about a month or so.

should be one of the first rb30de in the country that iv heard of and one of the first in to a r33 skyline that i know of..

Our 10 second engine that did a seasons racing and heaps of street work was 100% stock internals, even the RB25de head was untouched. It is still in a car now going strong more than 2 years after we stopped racing it.
600hp at all 4 was reliable and we never got to wind it up to "destruction" as everytime we went for a 9 the gearbox shat itself. The power level we ran to run low 10's was by no means leaning on it.

I will post a few pics and throw mine on your web site.

I recently upped the boost and discovered lifter pump up over 5000rpm + a week later it ripped out 3rd gear from the rb20det gearbox. :(

I've got a set of low km gtr springs on the way, will have them checked and installed. I 'may' give it a shot as it doesn't appear difficult.
I'm also thinking of sorting out the oil restrictors, I stuffed up building the motor and had them both drilled out to the same size as the rb20det.

Any one know if one oil rb20det sized (2.4mm) restrictor will suffice? I run the rb25det oil pump that has quite decent oil pressure, definitely much higher than that of the rb20det pump.

The rb30 runs 1.8mm oil restrictors.

ive got a matt black a31 in the build with rb30det. should hopefully be in the vicinity of 300/350 kws at the wheels

what turbo was 400kws on, very nice figure, when did it start to boost etc

turbo is t78 33d
not very laggy on a 3l either makes 1 bar buy 4500rpm with basic ign angles
was dynoed with a crappy 45mm chinese wastgate, which could hold the boost it creeps from 12psi (spring pressure) to 25psi at 6500rpm lol as they dont open enough, only made about 700nm engine or 2300nm wheels tho due to low boostat torque peak (was creeping up)

but...
the motor poped at a drift even, trew a rod i belive the 6cyl big end seized first,
lots of things to blame..
first engine i ever built....
engine too hot? both oil and water temps,
oil viscocity to low (5w-30) (low oil press too thin)
and the boost creap to 30psi @7500rpm lol
o well i thought there were invincable lol

after stripping engine, (and finding conrod g pins on chassis rail)
and over 1l oil stuck in chassic rail
i found a mulched piston,
then i take the cradle off all the mains fried, but 4/6 big ends were ok)

i think it was mainly a oil problem i run a 1.2mm oil orriface so i doubt it ran out of oil, but oil temps were very hot and pressure low,

what is a safe rpm limit for drifting? i use jun crank collars and gtr oil pumps, and have alloy power enterprise crank pullys, whats best oil under that amount of stress, and what power can i safly take it too? the limit now is the bottom end,, or 800hp what ever comes first lol

anyway another 26/30 engine is in it , wth a greddy type r gate and ready for a re-tune... please boss:rolleyes:
