Attitude towards police force.
« on: September 26, 2005, 09:16:04 AM »
Am I the only one getting sick to death of the attitude towards the cops getting out of hand here?  Makes our forum look like a out house in my opinion.  I'm not against discussion of the police force when they have done something stupid in the media, healthy discussion is perfectly fine.  But comments like S|8y's in the off topic thread on the police were completely uncalled for.  Along the lines of spit on them and call them pigs.  Quite frankly  I'd have PM'd the guy with a warning on that alone, but refrained for now to discuss.

My opinion is as moderators we should be cutting that crap out of our forums,  look at the thread in question (as of now it's still live), and watch how it only takes one person to make a comment, to drag the rest of the bandwagon wally's out to comment as well.

Cops do read our forums.  This I do know for a fact, I know this because I see a mate of mine from the Honda club forums every couple of weeks,  he browses through our forums time and again.  He does this becasue he is a car enthusiest so in that respect is a great resource,  but crap like this isn't a good look.

thoughts?

I'm not a fan of Police haters either, especially ones who constantly refer to them as 'pigs'. I even tell off family members who say it (two of my uncles are Policemen in the Nelson area).

I think maybe publicly saying something to the member in the respective topic might get the message across to other members that saying that sort of thing about the Police in these forums is a no-no.

My two cents. :)

I replied in said thread with that attitude wasn't welcome on these forums.  But left it at that.

I can agree also. Im not really fond of "cop" hates as i have a family member who is in the force. I know some cops can bring a bad name to New zealands police force, But forum bashing and public display if hate doesnt help the situation.

Ive noticed also that alot of the police force problems have been poping up on the forums. Maybe a anoucement/sticky posted in the right section regarding this problem would work?.. :)    As i know SDU has a good rep with the Police force. I wouldnt like to see that trust/Rep fall
