« on: March 14, 2006, 12:27:01 PM »
AT APPROXIMATELY 0305HRS THIS MORNING A CAR HAS LEFT THE ROAD AND CRASHED DOWN A BANK ON SH 58, HAYWARDS HILL PORIRUA. THERE WERE 3 PERSONS IN THE CAR AND ONE OF THE OCCUPANTS HAS DIED AT THE SCENE. THE ROAD HAS BEEN CLOSED AND WILL BE CLOSED FOR SOMETIME.

The above is an email I got from the Police Comm's this morning . . Apparently a 19 year old male died at the scene.

I have heaps of friends out these ways :(

Anybody know anything?

Taken from Police Wesbite:

A 19-year-old male passenger was killed in the early hours of this morning when the car he was travelling in failed to take a sweeping left hand bend on State Highway 58, on the Pauatahanui side of Haywards Hill.
The 3am crash happened 400 metres east of the intersection of Moonshine Road and SH58 when the driver was heading towards Porirua. The car crossed the road, crashed into a tree and plunged down a bank.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Saunders, Porirua CIB, says the car's driver, another 19-year-old male, was treated in Hutt Hospital for minor injuries but has since been released.
Police are hoping to release the name of the passenger later today.
Detective Sergeant Saunders says initial enquiries indicate that speed may have been a factor in this crash.

Saw the skid marks this morning, Police were still at the scene.
Looked to as if the car was doing a fair speed down from Britons House Moving yard, started to go round the left turn at the bottom, and lost control part way round.  Unfortunately, there's a foot-high dirt bank thing there, which sent the car flying into the trees. :(

Pretty sad,
There arent many people round in those wee hours of the morning, let alone joyriders.  mainly taxis. and thats a decent stretch of tarmac down there,

that name sounds familiar..condolences to family and friends. lesson to be learnt, dont take bends at speed faster than you can handle. public road is not a place to game with your life or the life of others.

Hiya,

I have been contacted by some close friends of the guy who died to see if we could please have this thread deleted as they know we aren't doing it to be nasty but some people are getting upset by seeing it on the forums.

Let me know if this is possible.

Thanks :)
