You should be able to import it under the personal import scheme, not SEVS. Under the personal import scheme you have to be able to show that you have owned and had the car registered for at least a year for it to be eligible. I have also heard that it is alot easier than SEVS. SEVS is the general scheme for anybody in Aus to import a car and basically it has to be complied standard, so any modifications have to be removed beforehand.
As I said anyway, look for info on the personal import scheme, not SEVS.
