Southern Festival of Speed 2007

Would there be any interest in a seperate SDU display or a combined one with Southern Skylines next year?

At the event (in Dunedin) this year we only had one SDU'er (snowman and his awesome R34 GT-R) and fifteen SSE'ers. Would be great if more SDU members could make it down this time, although i know it may be out of reach money-wise for some (me included if i was living up there).
We may be a bit short of cars this time as about five or more cars that were in the display have since been sold.

I'll copy and paste the same thing i've been posting in heaps of other car club forums over the past month or so;

I'm just wondering if SDU would like to put on a car display (outdoors, on The Oval sportsgrounds in Dunedin) at the Southern Festival of Speed street race next year? It is absolutely free to put up a display and drivers of the participating cars get into the event for free (normally $10 per person to get in).
It will be on Sunday 25th February 2007 (main event, the Saturday sealed hillclimb will not be held this year due to the council resealing the road).

- More info about the event (official website).

I'm relatively new to it myself, have been attending the event for about five years or thereabouts so far and as well as attending this years one i also organised a display for our car club (http://www.southernskylines.com). We had a turnout of about 16 cars which is a truely awesome achievement for our first year! We also had the second highest amount of cars out of all the clubs there, with only the Datsun Club of New Zealand outdoing us (it is either their second or third year) with about 43 cars!

Who's likely to be the organiser of a club display here? May need someone to send a map (of where to park on the field) and other information by mail closer to the end of the year.

I'll be asking as many nationwide and local car clubs as i can within the next few months (plenty of time to think about it or start saving up for the trip perhaps) as well as local car dealerships and so on. You can sell cars there so long as the 'for sale' information isn't plastered all over the place (a notice on the back seat would be the preferred way).

It doesn't matter where in the country you come from either, the Datsun Club had people from Invercargill come up and people from as far away as Auckland come down for it. We even had an R34 GT-R V-Spec II come down from Wellington for the Skyline Club display.

I am helping out an organiser by asking all the car clubs to participate as he is usually snowed under with work. We are also welcome to any other ideas which will help fill up and keep people in the infield during the day, as there is only so many times you can look at the cars on display or play on the bouncy castles!

Anywho, hope there's enough keen peeps here to get something sorted out (to quote the organiser "Even two cars is better than none...").

I gave heaps of notice for the last event (posted in all regional forums and had a stickied topic in the General Skyline Discussion forum) but it didn't garner a whole lot of interest. Anyone keen this time around?

Andrew. :)

Wow, this forum is quite dead. Where is everyone?
