phill i have found a few more auto crossmembers at work. if you have tryed that s15 one you could bring it out and say where and how far its out.

As far as I know for manual conversion on R32 auto chassis, you use a S13 manual crossmember.

As far as I know RB25DET gearbox bolts into a factory R32 auto chassis without problems, even uses the stock RB25 gearbox mount on I think was S13 manual crossmember. It was fitted after R32 manual gearbox was fitted.

But the crossmember is totally out on a factory R32 manual chassis due to crossmember mounting holes on factory R32 manual chassis that are forward more (someone said 50mm forward???) and requires a custom made crossmember.

On a manual chassis the S13 manual crossmember probably won't fit.

R32 manual and auto gearbox xmembers are exactly the same.

Silvia ones are different
Did you try a manual or an auto S13 one looney?

Hi Pete,

ones i have tried are:
R32 Manual
R33 RB25DET Manual (same as R32)
S15 Auto same as R32
R32 RB25DE Auto (different to all, close to the bolt holes on the chassis but doesn't fit the gearbox)

don't know where gtsr started talking about s13 ones from but have not see one.
i am going to have to make up some tabs and have them welded to the RB25DET cross member

From what I understand, a S13 manual crossmember is used when fitting a manual transmission into a auto chassis due to I gather is the different length of gearbox.

If you used a R32 manual crossmember on auto chassis, it supposedly doesn't line up with manual gearbox mount.

I was thinking if you turned the S13 manual gearbox crossmember around, does it make up that 50mm and line up with RB25DET gearbox mount. But you said it doesn't.

Hi Looney.

That's odd. I have had R32 RB20DE auto, R32 RB20DE manual, R32 RB20E auto, R32 RB25DE auto... all 100% the same.

I do know there are letters on each crossmember which identify them, "A" "B" and "C". Can't remember which are which, but have a look at what letters are on your existing ones and go from there.

Note, from memory you have to remove the gearbox mount to see the letter on the crossmember.

Turning the crossmember around is more dodgy than using 2 of the holes! It's way askew if you do that.
