77 Merc In Need Of Help!!!
« on: March 22, 2010, 03:54:23 AM »
howzit.
i just cracked me a 1977 mercedes for free thats powered by a ld28 2.8ltr straight 6 nissan diesel engine.dont b fooled as i have seen these engines been boosted before and they sounded very deep and nasty.the question is...how did it all wok?

I'm thinkin of building a low boost setup just for a pure back yard paddock hack.as diesel is a lil bit cheaper than gas(every cent counts) and it already has a fair amount of tourqe im thinkin i wana giv it a crack just to be on the different side.

*would a nissan locky bolt up as the merc has a similar setup?
*has anyone on this forum performed this conversion before?
*if so,did u use the factory l20et manifold?
*does a factory rb20det turbo fit to manifold?
*would the standard diesel pump handle a low boost setup?
*i'll be running a intercooler as i got spare parts lying everywhere.screamer, exhaust and piping are sorted as il be makin it up at home.

The car is massive being a oldskool car so would look cool slammed to the weeds spitting flames.Once finished i will post it up on the forum hopefuly to inspire other people on a budget thats trying to build there hack/skid car.any help in the right direction would be appreciated so help a brother out.....
