DIY: Replacing rocker over gaskets
« on: September 08, 2010, 01:44:17 PM »
This has probably been posted but no doubt it will help a few people.

Link to tutorial here

Now something very important to note -

R32/R33 RB Gaskets

LEFT (exhaust side) gasket: 13270-58S01
RIGHT (inlet side) gasket: 13270-58S11
Cam gear seals (a.k.a crank seals): 11051-58S00

R34 RB NEO Gaskets

LEFT (exhaust side) gasket: N13270-5L301
RIGHT (inlet side) gasket: N13270-5L311
Cam gear seals (a.k.a crank seals): N11051-5L300

Note RB NEO motor uses different gaskets

Hope this helps, wouldn't want to get the wrong gaskets, pull everything apart only to find out they dont fit.

Good luck :)

And here is how the process went for me. I also painted mine.

Step one
Acquire gaskets and spray paint

Step two
Steer at all the **** you have to take off!

Step three
Decided to pull the AAC vavle off and clean out the carbon and give it a little polish

Step four
Get back on track - Time to pull the rocker covers off. They were very dirty and needed a lot of cleaning to prep for painting

Step five
Everything cleaned, start painting :)

Step six
Reinstall

Bit of a shame the RB25DE+T NEO has so much **** running over the top of the engine. Cant see my awesome work.
Happy its done tho, no more leaky rocker covers.

Hi, no, you may have to order them separate.

The NEO rocker covers are different, they use bolts, rather than the screws with rubber washers found on the R32 & R33.

Another option is to just buy some gasket maker in a tube, the black oil resistant one is best, its made to replace the old rubber ones and is cheaper

Buy the gaskets, they are cheap as! I got the gasket kit from our sponsor Cockram Nissan. It came with the left and right rocker cover gasket, new rubber washers for the screws and the 'D' shaped rubbers at the back. My car hasn't dropped any oil since :)
Do it once, do it right!
