C33 Chassis Help
« on: January 04, 2011, 06:12:53 PM »
I was under my car the other day putting the subframe back in and noticed that along the chassis rails it looks as if the middle part of the rail has been pushed in a bit, it doesnt look bad, the outside of the rails are fine not bent or anything, just wondering if this is a normal thing or maybe its been hit going over a speed bump or something.
Just wondering as will be going to get cert soon so wondering if i should do something about it now or see how i go?
Anyone with experience with this would be good.

Cheers Hayden

Have had this, and sometimes the WOF guys will knock you back. I just use a hole saw from inside the car and punch the crushed bits back out.

Here is some pics of the damage, it looks worse than it is, its only the chassis rail that is a bit squashed the floor is fine, bit worse than i first thought went and took some pics today to show certifier

That almost looks like jack damage...

The rails on my L200 were much worse (too much offroading in a 2wd = bad news) and they still said nothing about them at wof time, all fixed up now though...

Mate sent his bluebird thru with a rail that was crushed to nothing pretty much, filled it with bog, primed it, undersealed it, raped it round the paddock to make it dirty and took it through, passed straight away...

Went to certifier today and showed him the pics, he said it will be all good, apparnatly its not part of the chassis just like a floor support type thing so thats  a relief :D
