S13 fusion with gts4?
« on: January 14, 2011, 02:50:30 AM »
Just a random out there idea, I dunno if itll work. Just a thought that passed through my head.
So Ive found this s13 body with Rb engine mounts init, and Ive found an Rb30 on trademe that im thinking of saving up for, plus ive found a skyline gts4 thats been pretty destroyed apart from the 4wd running gear. My question to you:
Is it possible to take the gts4 4wd running gear out of the skyline and put it into the s13?, taking in mind Ill also be using the same gearbox and (forgot the name - the front diff assembly) thats in the gts4. Also how hard would it be to drop in the RB30?

1st question ... would you be doing the work yourself ...or get a pro to do it ?

Anything can be done ... but may cost a **** load of $$$

Notching the front chassis rails for the front driveshafts.
Drivers side floor pan modified for the transfer case.
It can be done with effort.
Then don't forget the attessa wiring

front hubs would be alot of fun, r32 and s13 run a different setup. - Edit, no they dont, it would be ok.

You would need an adapter to be able to bolt the 4wd sump onto the 30 block and do some drive tunnel work.

use the GTS4 rear subframe, just roll it in. they use a different drive shaft

It can be done, A guy I used to work with was doing it to a S13, you pretty much need a whole gts4/GTR for it to work, you will need to be handy with a welder, best to talk to a cert guy before you even start notching the chassis rails.

Full Race also make an R14

You cant sit the engine lower, my rb25det in my 180 sits nice and low, modify the engine
crossmember and you can drop it a fair bit, mine came down 20mm and back 20mm.
If you can find a ca31 cefiro (4wd cefiro rb20det) and go from there.

yeah and you cant mod the sump to sit over the engine x-member because the drive shaft runs through it.

The chassis rails, floorpan, strut towers, struts, hubs/stubs, suspension arms and many other things are different and it would be a major to make a S-chassis into a 4WD but defanatly not impossible! At a guess you would need to stitch a R32 or A31 4WD front cut onto the S-chassis and then go from there but unless you can do it yourself or have lots and lots of $$$ probably best you find a easyer project.
Im getting there slowly at the moment
