hey bro the ca18i is a carby so there is minimal wiring in there
you'll wanna find a full loom out of a factory rb20de laurel (or possibly cef???) and then put that in cause that'll have the plugs etc that you'll need.
then the rest is a mish hah im up to that part now

You can get the tacho to work. You just have to bridge I think its a 10k relay betwee ingintion and siginal. It won't be exact but its usually pretty close.

you will have a whole lot of stuff to do such as EFI fuel pump etc.
the wiring will make it a bit of a long possibly expensive process if you don't know what your doing.

cross members should all match, headlight plugs will be the same. why the rb20det go hybrid ca20det that would be different.

wouldn't that be more expensive to go ca20det??, it would be easier to go sr20det :)

i imagine the skyline crossmember will go straight in cause the chassis would be basically the same between ca and rb car wouldnt they?
and yea same with the lights and plugs i guess

true it does look nicer and it is different, but all comes down to how much power he wants :P

the crossmember(r32 or a31) should just fit right in
chassis are the same i believe?

Sr20 will bolt straight in. Another Rb laurel cross member will bolt straight in also.

The CA18(i) is not a carb engine though as many think its is simply a single point injection rather than multi point!

An RB20DET conversion will be pretty simple not alot different from a RB20e to a RB20det with a little bit more wiring and having to change the engine cross member.

If you were to do and SR conversion you would be able to use your CA gearbox still, you would only have to change your bell housing to a SR item.

The CA18I is a centre point injection and I think the wiring is roughly the same to the rear of the car as I have put a A31 RB25DE fuel pump into one before with no problems!
Yes any RB: R32, C33 or A31 will bolt strait into the car and yes a SR will bolt into the CA cross member.
CA20DET is alot of work I have been helping a mate do one for a S13 an it got shelved while he saves some money. I would also say that if you spent the time and effort on a CA18/20DET they would be a much better motor for high HP but yes for making it easy a SR would be the way but then you also end up with a horible sounding motor and your like evryone elce out there!
Im getting there slowly at the moment

CA18I is Center Point Injected, not carby (otherwise it'd be a CA18S) so still runs as an EFI setup. You can use your factory fuel lines etc but the rubber sections in the engine bay need to be longer. The pump will run the motor but won't be enough for boosting.

I've done the conversion from a skyline GXi to a GTS25 setup and it is quite easy but as geoff said, the wiring is the worst bit!!
