S13 RB25DET clutch master cylinder problem
« on: July 10, 2011, 09:25:12 PM »
Hey guys

So ive just spent the weekend swaping th RB25DET from my R32 skyline into my s13 silvia and put the RB20DET i had in that into the skyline.

So im prety educated now in how the two chassis vary now :)

The main issue I have run into is that I cant fit the clutch master cylinder in. I have a greedy copy intake manifold. And it leaves only 90mm of space between that and the intake plenum. (The normal cylinder is around 120mm long)

Surely someone has run into this issue before?

Anyone know of a master cyl shorter than 90mm? I going to have a ring around tomorrow and see what I can find.

Will try post pics in the next couple days.

Any help or input is appreciated

hahahahahahahahaha

sorry dont mean to laugh, i had this exact issue and spent weeks because most people seem real keen to do stuff half assed

i lowered the engine for something else and it helped, the other thing that sealed the deal was an r34 clutch master :)

(obviously i didnt lower the engine specifically for that, but it helped)

what engine crossmember are you using?

Several of us have bought a brand new shorter clutch m/c from Brake and Clutch cnr Onehunga Mall and Nielson St. It was  a Terrano one - I'll try to find the details. Here it is:
eanks to tip from live4liners you can get a brand new clutch m/cylinder from Sterling Brake and Clutch: [deleted}
UPDATE _ no longer recommending this - had problems similar to poster below i.e. not enough pedal - it finally failed after a month ot two of use - now fitted an R33 one - pedal is fine!!!

I had the exact same problem with my Greddy FFP, normal clutch master got in the way.

After a bit of research I found the one that fits is a R33 clutch master cylinder, it's heaps shorter than a R32 one.

I got one from Nissan for $180, you can see the part number in this pic of my one if you need it.

Was that into a R32 or S13?

can you measure the distance between where it mounts against fire wall and the end of the cylinder body?

Into a R32 but don't think they come much shorter than that R33 clutch master, there is still quite a bit of room with it in before the plenum now.

I will measure it if I get some spare time tonight and post up the lengh.

Alright, so an update on this. I got the terrano one that westybob mentioned and it looks much the same as r32crazy01 pictured.

I put it in tonight and bleed it up. the problem is that the pedal is real low. Engages as soon as u start taking pedal of the floor.

Iv been thinking this is due to the small size & stroke of the new masster cylinder. Any one else had this problem? And how did they remedy it, smaller bore slave cylinder may be an option?

Have you wound the adjuster out quite a bit?

It should have a larger bore than the longer ones to make up for it far as I'm aware?
