Rb26dett replacement BOV's
« on: December 11, 2014, 12:54:22 PM »

I may need to replace my BOV's as they are at the limit (370kw+).  What type/brand/model should i use?
Street/Track machine in progress.  Lets see some numbers.

Is that a myth? I am about 50kw more that the number you mentioned and still run factory re-circ system  ;D

Unless they are leaking, I dont see the point.

Genuine HKS SSQ seems to be the way.

There can be some good hp, torque gains if the stock BOV's are leaking.

I found modified stock BOV to not release when off boost and when the stock BOV did at lower boost levels, flutter / surge sound. Also when backed off throttle and got back onto throttle it hesitated a little bit before accelerating.

I found the Synapse BOV released off boost and at lower boost levels with a clean release sound. When backed off throttle, then got back onto throttle the car picked up with what seems like no hesitation which takes a bit getting used to. Otherwise the Synapse BOV was similar to a
modified stock BOV. The Synapse BOV seemed to solve the problems with the modified stock BOV.

Neat part about the Synapse BOV's is you can convert them from push (exactly like a factory BOV for overboost protection) to pull if you don't want them to leak at all (no protection if engine overboost's).

Can buy Synapse BOV in a kit -

You do need some brass 1/8? thread to 6mm ribbed nipple fittings to connect the stock 6mm?? vacuum feed hoses to the 1/8? thread fitting as supplied in the kit to ensure no leaks, malfunctioning of BOV's.
