I need to buy a replacement battery that's gone flat in my R33 Skyline.
The exhisting one is Maintenance free
(you know the one without the little caps to fill distilled water)and has a little tube running down the side.

I don't know what rating it is or if I can use a normal battery that has the little caps.

Make sure you get a battery that is vented, ie it has a tube that fits into a socket just to the left of the battery otherwise fumes will corrode the inside of the seat

Hey thanks I didn't think about that!

Do you know what rating the battery is?
(ie. Amp/Hour)

I rang a supposed Skyline specialist and he just said
any battery will do. When I asked about what rating the
battery should be. He said he didn't know.

I'm not sure of the original rating on the battery, I would get the biggest that would fit. If its the same as R32 battery, its some pissy little thing which tend to flat rather easily.

 FYI,

Century make a battery that is Maintance free and has the venting hole on the side. The part no. is DIN53 (replaced the old DIN55) it is rated 480CCA.

Automan from http://www.autospeed.com pointed me in the right direction.

Thanks all.

I just picked up a new battery yesterday, and am quite happy with it. I'm not sure what rating it is, but it only just fits into the battery area in my R33.

The guys at Dales Auto Electricial changed the terminals for a bigger, decent set, as well as changed the positive cable completely to give it more length. They also re-spaded my stereo connections and whacked those on for me.

Total cost, $122.72 for the battery and $7 for the new cable. (ex gst)

The Battery is a Hella Endurant, originally meant for the BMW's etc becuase of the vented, recessed terminal design. It came with the venting piping, which you just stick down the handy hole Nisaan has provided.

Crank factor is now excellant. Total number of loudhours (stereo up max before car wont start) yet to be determined. I'm guessing they're gonna be good.
