I hate to say it or spam the thread but if its been gone longer then 4hours and the guys are professional it will have been either

A. Plate and tagged with a new coat of paint
B. stripped for parts and cut up/scrapped

The gtr and the holden will have been stolen to order ie someone will have paid to have it nicked and it will have been most likely for the parts cant comment on the silvia though

I just hope everyones insured and yes its gutting but at the end of the day as long as your ok you can always get another car

Just wanna highlight that part so its really obvious to anyone who reads it.

Can't be too hard to find out where it lives.... lynch mob, anyone?

I wonder if the police have bothered to knock on the door of the registered owner. Get them to spill info, if they don't then lock them up for perverting the course of justice. Simple.
The law needs to come down on car thieves like a tonne of bricks. F*ck it, 2 tonnes!

Thats what f*cks me off the most... why is the owner a boy racer JUST because of the car (s)he owns? ...and who said that car even caused problems with the law? Narrow minded police :splat:
It shouldn't matter... its someones property. Someone worked hard to earn that, what right does anyone have to take it?
Plus car theft costs everyone.... how low would insurance premiums be if car theft stopped?
But its also the crimes that happen after the car is stolen. They get used in robberies / run from the cops killing people / stripped and sold for parts which only helps the black market taking business from people operating within the law etc etc etc

Ever seen Road Wars on CI channel? The brits cops are on to it when dealing with a car thief and will pretty much stop at nothing to get their man. Its brilliant :D They drive the streets actively looking for naughty/dodgy people situations. Our cops if they caught a thief... 'bro, please don't steal another car again. It hurt peoples feelings' or something to that effect.

maybe its insurance jobs on boyracer cars getting stolen so insurance companies got good reasons to UP their premiums etc ?

'1 Finger Punishment' would help - anyway a quick response on 2 subjects:

1. Friends 317 HSV was nicked recently off of his mates car yard forecourt 2 weeks later it was spotted in Raglan, the little #@%!$@ was just driving around like he owned it – the vehicle was followed, recovered - his *** got dropped with the Police (somewhat worse for wear) so 'Yes' these thieves can be extremely stupid, and will continue to cruise all over willy nilly in very stand-out cars.

2. Police are busy, and have different priorities to us... we recently got heavily burgled, the crims left a screw driver up on the driveway and we thought this was the best chance we had of prints... 3 days passed with no visit from the Police so we decided to take a drive and deliver the screw driver to the forensics team in case it held some decent ridge work.

When we got home we'd been done over again.

My thoughts? If you can catch these people refer to previous thread where outlined was the 'Pain & Money' theory… these people will only have their behavior modified (i.e. cease to steal your ****) by heavy application of pain or loss of money – neither of these 2 factors are being applied at present.

i just rang that number and spoke to alex.

i saw the car yesterday at the roundabout on oteha vally road near the bunch of shops where the meatmart is.

different number plate, it was round 1.30pm when i was heading to mrs dads place. alex said his mate spotted it out in manukau around 5.30.

since people are saying they keep spotting him on the shore he must be around that area. will keep an eye out and follow him next time and ask him a few qs

If you do talk to the guy don't try arouse any suspicion otherwise they may possibly move the car on again and it'll be harder to track down. Also follow from a distance just in case you go too close, they catch on an do a runner.

If that car was sold, it was done between people who know each other so if they think they are going to be caught, they might destroy it to save their asses:(

Carry a wheel clamp with you, if you get on his tail, follow him discretely wait for him to park up then clamp the ****er.

Call the guy whose car it is that is stolen, say where it is and to bring some "mates"...

Excellent setup, get the car, and the culprit "slipped" and fell down, breaking an ankle, ribs and ending up with many bruises and scratches.

I live in albany, so I too will keep a lookout.

For motorcycles - when you clamp the front wheel you have a line that you hook onto the handle bars so you don't accidentally try riding off without disconnecting it.......

Evo3 Libero
Rego:ANM491 (i think)
Stolen from the East Coast Road Shell station by Torbay.
Its white with a black evo3 bonnet. evo2 bumper and the rest of the kit is evo 3. It's pretty distinctive. It wasn't actually driving so most likely is on the back of a tow truck somewhere!

If they have anything worth stealing from them!!!

On public display, cut their bloody fingers off, one by one and all of them.

Also tattoo in bold letters on their foreheads - "THIEF"

Well they must be making money otherwise they wouldn't be doing this.
Not condoning stealing from them but i'd just like them to build something they love, something they genuinely put work into and then have it taken. Just to see if they could be open to change.

^^ I seriously would love to catch one of those little fu*ks breaking into someones car. One day, they will get sprung.... by someone much larger or more argressive than themselves. Maybe a trip to hospital will get the message through you do not fu*k with other peoples property. The law certainly ain't doing sh*t about them :finger

On a related note, I'm posting this on behalf of a guy I know... his mates car was stolen

Ahh sht, thanks Achalla for keeping this going.
I only really do the fb one lol. But yeah that Gti-R that got stolen, is my mates car.
Stolen the day before his birthday. Had no battery in it either but i don't know if the thieves knew that before they took it as we drove it onto the road then took out the battery like 10 hours before it went missing.
**** luck though. Having a birthday bbq, mates over and stuff, then go out to bring car in.....gone.

Hey everyone. Just a reminder to Revoke access so if people do get your plates from pictures online or other places, they can't find your address:

https://transact.nzta.govt.nz/transactions/PersonalInfoAccess/entry.aspx

I came across the link just now after a year or so and just did it to my car. Feel better about my plates being everywhere online now :) Took like 2 minutes to do. Get on to it!

Was a brawl at the gas station. I saw the tip that it was spotted again in block house bay, txtd my mate who's car it was and he went rushing off there, and i went to grab another friend and rushed down there.
They were driving around in the sti, and stopped at a gas station for .......$9 gas hahaha.
My friend that owned the car had swerved into the gassy and him n his missus had a brawl with the ppl that stole it, and we arived just after the thieves had gapped it. Would have been there sooner but my friends wife wanted to come with us and she wasn't feeling too well so couldnt really boost it.
If we had been there just a 5 mins earlier we could have joined the fight, since my mate was outnumbered with just him and his missus against 3 islanders.
But yeh,  its back.

Very brave.... all it's gonna take with one of those ****s is to get snapped by someone bigger than themselves and it's a guaranteed trip to hospital. I know I wouldn't hesitate if I caught someone ****ing with my car.
Lucky they didn't get it!
Where was it parked? Driveway, side of the road etc?

Motorsport Auckland

Some scumbag (his words, not mine) has stolen Martin's race car trailer this afternoon, from Bob Homewoods yard in Drury, in broad daylight. Easily recognised, REG C273Y. Any info to the Police please. He can only assume signage is removed, but Hilux rims and carpeted centre and drawbar area are reasonably unique, could be on the road somewhere this afternoon.

rang the guy up for this about 2 days after it was stolen, 2 islanders were killing it all around te atatu peninsula, i think theres a house around here that boosts cars and takes them apart here because alot of cars go missing from around here and elsewhere and seem to always end up bein thrashed up and down my blood street. they ripped the front bumper off the rx7 and were just thrashing it for a good hour or so. must of removed the exhaust cause it was super loud!!!

Sucks that crime like theft increases around the holiday season, I'm thinking it's probably time to upgrade to a high quality alarm installed by an installer who knows what they are doing (see Autowatch, Kishor comes highly recommended)

It's going to set you back more than your average AVS 5 star installed in the most obvious spots possible, but not worth skimping out on obviously.

Attempted theft Lastnight in Te Atatau
Tried stealing an evo1, and ramming the gate down.
Failed and jumped the fence intp a black 4door honda with spoiler.
Had 3-4 guys in it.
Be on the lookout if u see one around your hood at night guys.

wtf!?

Why bother stealing a POS car when you are going to have to half destroy it in the process anyway? :/

big demand for evo parts i guess? not really relevant, the point of the post is to get the info out there about the location and how much effort theyll go to to get it and to make sure people secure their cars

i was more meaning if youre in the habbit of pissing people off enough that theyre going to take your car as retribution youd wanna be damn sure your not wasting money by building something only for it to get taken

i'd also like to clarify im not implying thats what has happened to the above car/owner, i have no idea what has actually happening, im merely responding to the speculation

LOL BS Johnny! Glenfield/birkenhead/northcote area is as close as you get to dodgy on the shore anyway but not as bad as out west.
I'm just surprised people saw it up on the coast then later its found down here. Perhaps they thought it was too risky and just came back and dumped it. Who knows.

Oh also I found out this guy I had on facebook for years is a car thief... Changed settings so he can't see anything of mine but I can see everything of his. Time to keep an eye on him...

I have personally confirmed this is true

Jonah is in the country at the moment so it wasnt in its usual storage location, it was taken from town last night at around midnight, it is a White R32 GTR with the license plate FATZLA, its very hard to miss, its incredibly loud, at idle youll hear the chevy input shaft vibrating like hell in the gearbox like it wants to escape, Eyes peeled all

his old R34 (belongs to someone else now) was also broken into earlier in the week in town, it appears town is being a high target at the mo, again, eyes peeled, all info on sightings to me if possible please

didnt realise there was a stolen thread in here, so i'll put the car in here. its been gone awhile now. but wheels are pretty rare, so might be able to pick up on them now. but would say the rest would be long gone parted out.

please keep an eye out someone stole one of our sponsors cars 3/1/2012, must be someone close to them or have had work done by the DT Komposite boys. managed to get it from behind a gate behind their house without setting the alarm off and knowing the dog was tied up as well.

If you know or see anything about this car please get in touch with Dylan or Duran asap.

We also live in a world of insurance fraud and while I sympathise with genuine cases I know not all are legitimate claims.

I hope any fraudulent claimants are caught and dealt with so it doesnt force premiums up for the rest of us!

And if you have a sought after car you secure it or disable it.  If you dont your just making it easy!

Thanks for posting this up guys, been a busy day or so, house keys got taken too so added issues there to deal with.

We certainly do, don't we Andy. Fraud kills it for everyone, so I agree anyone doing that is essentially just another thief, stealing off a company. Deal with them the same way as far as I'm concerned (with a bat).

also update on the Red GSR. There was a house on coatesville-riverhead highway that it was found at. The owner went to the house and activated the alarm and heard it go off in the garage. Some guys got in the car and drove off. So its still missing, but there may be other cars linked to that house. Good place to start searching if yours does go missing.

im going to make this very clear again, next time ill lock and delete the thread

posting up cars that have been stolen is perfectly acceptable, asking people to keep an eye out for cars is perfectly acceptable, posting up information to be able to get in contact with the person whose car has been stolen is perfectly acceptable, posting up information leading to and including the "thank yous" for having a car recovered is acceptable

what's not acceptable is putting up information including phone numbers of possible thieves, information naming those thieves, personal back stories about knowledge of said thieves, discussions about vigilante justice or plans to commit such things. if the case is ongoing discussing it in a manner described above in a publicly viewable forum is not only stupid but can be very detrimental to the case

im not pointing fingers, naming names, im making the standing on it very clear

And your on here why ?? or just wanted to "set people right", one forum wont change the tip of the ice burg on what people are saying ...

Seems to be a tonne of info on how "dodgy" this guy is etc.

thats pretty crazy about the police officer apparently lending her clothes out so some thieves could pose as police and take off with the car. i read that articile in herlad yesterday after hearing about said car on here. would be pretty gutted if that happened to me.

apparently there is a large group of people going around trying to find this car? apparently they've been to some peoples houses already (where they suspect stolen car to be) and caused some damage?

that would be interesting to see i guess. otherwise you dont really get much from the map apart from cars are being stolen all over.

or you could draw a conclusion that the thieves are from Mangere or Howick area and not stealing near. or the cars are going back to those areas, or they just have safe garages of nothing worth stealing.... Sorry just trolling about the picture. :D

its not really trolling if it gets back to them and the next version has more info, like id be curious to know what kind of cars are being stolen from each area, example rwd nissns in X area, subbies and evos in another etc, could help making our cars more safe in certain places if the variable of risk was higher in those places

How easy is it to steal a R34 GTR compared to an exotic sports car like a lambo? What security features do the exotics have that our common cars lack?

Who would buy a second hand Lambo, Ferrari motor or say other exotic car parts...

On the other hand chop shops will find a greater market for a RB26

I wouldn't know about security features, if they want it and can't get it started they could just tow it.

If you stole something like a lambo parts would be harder to get rid of, it would be more likely to get keyed than stolen in NZ,

Wheres if you stole a R34 GTR, all the main parts could be used on another Nissan and not just a R34, the GTR would be more sort after in NZ

I agree there is a greater market for the RB26 but just wondering. Perhaps we can adapt those security features to our cars? I mean they spend so much on those cars, surely they must have some good anti-theft techniques

I don't no aye, my mates Silvia got stolen couldn't get it started so they used the seat belts to tow it, You could buy a wheel clamp might stop them towing it.

lol wheel clamp, got one put on my car at uni because I didn't have a parking permit so I walked home and got my flatmate's car, borrowed generator and a grinder and chopped it off, pretty sure a theif would do the same.
Title: Stolen cars: Auckland
Post by: con-air on February 29, 2012, 12:07:54 AM
It's just about making the biggest drama for them, you want an alarm and immobilizer , and get a decent steering wheel lock, one that goes around the brake/clutch pedal. They would need a hacksaw on them to get it off and it takes time, same with a wheel clamp. Sure they can get through it, but **** it would make a bit of noise and take a bit of time, the longer it takes them to get the car the less likely they will be to go for it.

How easy is it to steal a R34 GTR compared to an exotic sports car like a lambo? What security features do the exotics have that our common cars lack?

Heard it is harder to steal exotics because their security system is built into the ECU itself unlike the common cars we have,we have to get them installed.Thats just hearsay though and I'd love to know the answer to your question from a pro.

Some of these exotic and rare cars could be stolen for insurance jobs.Who knows.

Wheel clamps help, someone do a group buy on them lol.

Most common cars from round 2000 onwards have factory immobilisers as part of the engine ecu, even my mums 2002 corolla. You couldn't really fit it into an older model without it.

There's defs something weird going on up old Albany ways >_>
Deeunit, don't you live up there. Got any insight about this?

Wheel clamps could work! Depends how determined they are to take your car. My mates got clamped few days ago. They figured a new rim was cheaper than the $100 ticket :D

In regards to the security system built into the ECU, I'm sure someone could program our ECUs and wire in circuits for the same thing... Might look into it.

It was on Target and Fair Go awhile back it was something to do with that there is no legislation for clamping and that clamping a car causes civil distrubance so its unlawful. If i remember in short it was you can remove it or pay it and then take them to court and get refunded. Some old backwards law.

Why the hell would you leave the wheel behind? take it home and cut it off, you can get wheel clamps that cover the wheel nuts, i'm going to make a clamp this week/weekend and a steering lock for my Safari.

That's wicked info thanks Lethal, I will remember that in the future.

Also, Paremoremo village is a 2 min walk down the road, can see it from my house. Never see any dodgy going-ons though, due to A) it being a village used primarily for the prison staff and B) the biggest attraction is the primary school there.

Yea I was just thinking that the other day then BOOM! there she goes, worst feeling in the world seeing your pride and joy missing. Good time to make sure you have insurance.

I reckon the police need to dedicate a unit to finding / policing stolen cars. I know there are far worse crimes out there like murders etc but it seems like its happening far to often these days. Don't know if its social media spreading the word faster or if thief is actually. Only a matter of time before everyone starts taking matters into there own hands.

YAYYYYYY just got a call from the police they found the car with a bunch of "known" car thief's up in Helensville. Apparently in an ok condition but who knows if they have thrashed her or not. Time will tell.

They said there was a burnout comp there tonight or tomorrow and that it looks like they may have been trying to use her there.

Waiting for the call back, hopefully the finger print match the guys that are "hanging" round the car when they found her.

They smashed through the rear quarter window and busted the ignition. They must have rolled her down the street first because I would have heard her start up, the exhaust is quite loud on it. The cars been towed to Whangaparoa so still a couple of days away before I can see it.

But so happy they found her, already have a super expensive alarm to install when she gets back to Auckland and wont park her on the street again.

Wow, thats dumb.

How would you be able to keep the parts off that car from looking suspicious? or would it likely be a steal to order, and shipped overseas thing like previously talked about.

Stolen from behind the mitre 10 mega in albany between 7.30-9.30pm on tuesday sept 11.
Paint fade around majority of car.
This one is a bit rarer being a hardtop and 2 seater.

Only 26 were made for Nissan NZ and this was the first. It has all factory interior, with 300ZX embroided in the seats. The tow bar seems to be a factory option that was included and will need to be cut off to be removed. Its missing the air con system and the engines throttle linkage cover - both are still in my garage!

Cop allegedly involved in car theft on trial

Quote
A suspended policewoman accused of supplying her uniform to a man who allegedly used it to steal a high-performance car is defending herself in court today.

Karis Charnley is arguing against charges of being party to theft, being a party to impersonating a police officer and assault at the North Shore District Court.

It's alleged she supplied her police uniform to a man who used it to impersonate a police officer and seize a Mitsubishi Evo from a Devonport address on February 8, claiming it had been used in a hit and run.

Charnley originally faced charges of theft and impersonation but these were withdrawn and the new charges re-laid.

The owner of the seized car, Jerome Kino, told the court he and his father had built the vehicle and insured it for $11,000.

After the car was taken, Kino used his Facebook account to track the vehicle to a Coatesville property he and eight friends later visited.

"We were on the Coatesville Riverhead highway - about halfway down - just trying to start my remote and I heard the alarm go off in a garage and saw the lights go off," he said.

Kino said the garage was about 100m down a gravel driveway with five or six cars leading up to it.

He said five people rushed out of the house and got into his car and a blue/grey Nissan Skyline and drove away.

The court heard that after the alleged theft, the accused's son, Matthew Charnley, met his mother at a Stillwater campground where she gave him a large duffle bag and asked him to "burn papers in it".

"She told me that she loves me and she's ****** up and cares about me," he said.

Matthew said he opened the bag to "have a nosey" and saw a yellow impound notice with a friend's car registration number written on it.

He said he texted his mother saying: "U no that wad of paper u told me 2 burn ... wel is that the car u stole cuz if so thats 1 of my best mates [sic]."

She replied: "Jerome evo red."

A day later Matthew met his mother at a Rosedale cafe where he said she was "scared for her life" and swapped cars with him, he said. Matthew drove away in her blue/grey Nissan Skyline.

On February 13, Matthew, who stayed at his father's home in Browns Bay, was confronted by Kino at home around 9pm.

"The atmosphere was tense," he said.

"He asked me what do I know about his car and I said I don't know anything.

"Ten guys came and circled me and they were yelling at me. I told them I don't know anything."

Kino told him he believed Charnley was involved.

Matthew called his mother who arrived around 20 minutes later. The confrontation cooled after Charnley told Kino she would help him find his car.
Ad Feedback

The stripped Mitsubishi Evo was found a month later at an address in Paremoremo.

The court will continue to hear evidence against Charnley today.

Holy sh|t I saw that parked near the bottom of Glencoe Rd all the time....
It was always parked on the grass next to the footpath, not within the property - in hindsight, probably not a smart idea as it was probably (and very easily) towed away.

http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/mp/15614706/westgate-mall-barricaded-by-police/

Quote
Westgate Mall in west Auckland has been barricaded by police cars and a helicopter in order to arrest car thieves.

Four people were detained in The Warehouse after being followed to the mall in a stolen car.

Police say they used vehicles to establish a cordon around the mall which meant the offenders couldn't get away.
The operation is now over and the thieves have been taken to the local station.

What's the bet it was the same idiots who stole the R34 owned by a member on here and other cars

Not enough of these sh*t heads get caught by the owner of the car.... I bet they wouldn't go squealing to the cops if they get a dealing to - that's like a drug dealer going to the cops saying someone ripped him off - and I guarantee they would never do it again.

Not sure if it was recovered but I will ask now.
I assume if its still rolling around looking exactly the same and even has a for sale sticker then its found but who knows.

Jesus - it almost makes me cry each time I visit this thread... its awesome SDU (and other forum) members are pretty 'on-to-it' assisting many of these vehicles being recovered.

Somewhere back in the pages I outlined the 'Pain & Money' approach to attitude/behavior adjustment really it is the only way as these types of inherently lazy perp's learn via no other means.

Its really sad but it almost pays to be paranoid.

The R31 was found, it was in Mangere being stripped. They didn't get far with the stripping thankfully.

Lost your Toyota Hiace lately?

Police have revealed that dozens of the popular vans have been stolen to order across Auckland in recent months in a crime operation worth $300,000.

The Counties Manukau Police organised crime team have arrested and charged seven people over the theft of 38 Hiace vans between October and February this year.

The region's crime manager Detective Inspector Dave Lynch said none of the vehicles have yet been recovered. Charges have been laid over 27 vans, with further to follow.

The seven Counties Manukau locals, including one woman, were aged 16 to 42. They were arrested on Thursday and faced court on Friday where all but a 42-year-old man were released on bail.

Det Insp Lynch used the arrests to remind commuters to "lock your vehicle, ensure your vehicle has an alarm, use a steering lock and park your car off the road".
Statistics from insurance companies show the Toyota Hiace is one of the vehicles most commonly stolen by profit-motivated thieves.

not to surprised, be lucky if they find any, they would all be in containers &/or sold in dubai by now...

the stupid thing if you stole a vehicle & sold it with in a hour to they guys who send them over seas they dont know its stolen cause doesnt show up on carjam till its reported, & due to stupid laws when you carjam vehicles you cant see who owns it unless your a car dealer or its owned by a company..

Need to have strong punishment for these crims they cost the economy so much be more like america and send them away for 5-10 years. Not give them a slap on the wrist and a gold star for being good while in court.

I would try and put together a hunting party if my car got stolen and is a reason (when i am in nz) I do not park it anywhere and if I go away its safe or has a wheel lock on it.

Steering wheel locks take 5 seconds to bypass. was watching a show like ten 7 or something. they just cut your steering wheel at one point and slip it off. alarm with 3 point immobilizer and wheel boot when you leave town is what might help.
