Maintenance & Car Care / V36 Wheel nuts
« on: July 24, 2015, 07:45:47 PM »
I have acquired a set of wheels off a V36 Skyline but there were no wheel nuts. They appear to need a special size of "mag" nuts i.e. with a straight shank and a washer  but shorter than the usual on TradeMe. Does anyone have one (or 20 would be great) for me to look at  or does someone have an actual V36 so I could check it out???? :D

Here's a pic of the 370Z ones - supposed to be the same - so anyone got some or know where to get them?

General Skyline Discussion / SpeedLab - Perf
« on: March 18, 2015, 07:39:33 PM »
Take care before you buy an ecu from "Speedlab-perf"
He is advertising a Neo ecu which I know from the part number is not! It's an ecu for a 1996/7 Stagea with the RB25DET from the R33 and auto awd transmission. I have pointed this out to him but he insists that it is a Neo ecu because "he believes " it is when he could easily confirm that he is wrong by checking with Nissan Fast or a Nissan parts department. He is selling it because he can't chip it (which is because it is not a Neo ecu being a Hitachi rather than a Jecs)!

He claims that it ran an R34 "fine" which is backyard mechanic talk for "it actually started and ran".

General Performance / Spacers banned?
« on: November 21, 2014, 09:08:36 AM »
My WOF inspector tells me that spacers are no longer allowed and can't be certed. This is the first I have heard of this . There is provision in the handbook for spacers and wheel adapters and I have a cert for them. Has anyone heard of this change and when did it come in and why?

Audio, Security and Electrical / Amp installer wanted!
« on: March 07, 2014, 11:54:19 PM »
Anyone want to install an amp for me? I am happy to pay the going rate - just don't want to put it in a shop if some one here wants the work and its not an area where I have any expertise.

I have a Sherwood A50 x 4 amp and four uprated speakers to replace the four in my doors (no sub). I am hoping the existing speaker wires will cope with a bit of a power increase.

I could pull out the front seats (presume the amp would go under the passenger seat).

Give me a ring or text me with a landline preferably and I will phone you back. 027 2701489

General Performance / E85 pump prices
« on: December 27, 2013, 06:46:42 PM »
Does anyone know what the pump prices are for E85 at Hamilton or Pukekohe (the only sites that I know of). I regularly email Gull asking them to sell it at the pump at a few sites in Auckland (surely their biggest market).

General Performance / Spark Plugs
« on: July 05, 2013, 07:21:11 AM »
Well you can never stop learning. Like a lot of people I have been using and recommending BCPR7ES plugs for years but today Soichi told me to use PFR7 instead because the coppers (which he says are fine for n/a cars) misfire at high boost and revs - which rings true because the last time I had my car on the dyno at Torque performance he kept pulling the plugs out and gapping them down ( to 0.5 or so) as they were misfiring up top.

So PFR7s it is for me!

Cockram Nissan Christchurch / Diff oil
« on: June 25, 2013, 08:21:28 PM »
Hi Dan
Need a couple more Nismo oil filters. What is your price for diff oil? Do you stock only the Nismo competition 75 140 or do you have the Motul as well?

Cockram Nissan Christchurch / Coil loom
« on: October 02, 2012, 09:51:01 AM »
Definitely just a question at this point but can you get a coil loom probably for a 96 S1 Stagea WGCN34 possible part number 24079-0V000
and are the R33GTST one and the R34 neo GTT ones different?
And can you buy just the plug at the end of the loom?
Thanks
Bob

Maintenance & Car Care / What size tap - any plumbers?
« on: August 10, 2012, 07:59:35 PM »
Any plumbers or pipe fitters among us?
I want to fit two nominal 15mm bsp nipples to a catch can. What size tap do I need to cut the thread? I calculated that it needed to be 13/16 but there seems to be no such tap size. So is it 3/4in or 7/8in??

Maintenance & Car Care / Dial gauge wanted
« on: August 02, 2012, 07:20:56 AM »
Has anybody out West got a dial gauge they can lend me for a day (or want to sell for not too much!)?

I just want to check TDC and probably won't use it again for ages if ever so a loan (or hire) would be great but if you have one you want to sell let me know as well please.

General Performance / Sound meter
« on: July 25, 2012, 02:33:10 PM »
Does anyone have a sound meter or know someone who has? Where can you get your exhaust noise level measured? I want to run my straight through muffler without the silencer but it might be too loud. I usually just take it out on the dyno and on the track but it creates quite a bit of back pressure and I wouldn't mind losing it permanenently.

Maintenance & Car Care / Roll cages, general fabrication
« on: May 25, 2012, 06:59:43 AM »
I noted that someone's roll cage maker had gone overseas and a fabricator I had been using went out of business so looked for another and found this guy ( he does roll cages, manifolds, genral fabrication):

http://yellow.co.nz/y/Motor+Sports/Monster+Engineering/101932664_1184.html

Anyone done business with him? He is doing a small job for me (catch can) but wondered if anyone else had jobs done there??

Auckland and North / Hampton Downs Trackday 24 June
« on: May 11, 2012, 05:54:52 PM »
Its good to see other SDU members at trackdays but there are so many Playday events, open days at Pukekohe, Hampton, Taupo, Manfield etc so if you are committed to one start a thread so others can join you!. (Hint to Mark - looking forward to seeing either of your cars in action!).

Anyway I am booked for Hampton Downs on Sunday 24 June. Anyone else?!!

Maintenance & Car Care / Front diff breather
« on: May 06, 2012, 02:17:01 PM »
Anyone know where the front diff breather goes on my RB30/25? Just changed the oil filter and managed to dislodge the breather hose that comes from the front diff and also the wire for the oil pressure warning light! Off now to buy a small mirror as I can't see much under my FF plenum (can't wait to install my oil cooler/filter relocation kit!)

Directions relative to the oil filter would be handy!
Thanks.
