Series II Headlights
« on: March 30, 2002, 05:20:28 AM »
Hi all,

I really want to change from those series 1 headlights to Series II , i was told and have read somewhere that you need to change the bonnet aswell, that a bit of a pain but can be done, i was wondering if i need to change my series 1 front bar aswell,

Also does anyone know how to actually get into the headlights, i have a few bugs in there, looks ugly as i got that plastic cleaner from just jap, it really does make a difference :) and its worth it anyway after cleaning, you can see little flies and sh*t in there i want to get them out

thanks

kris

What's the difference anyway? I reckon my Series 1 lights are pretty good looking, so I'm a little curious as to how good these S2 lights look.

MIC, mine is a series 2...

As for changing them, it'd be the bonnet, front bar/grille and maybe even the front quater panels.

Getting into the lights is not recommended as you will break the seal and they will leak and fog up.

Thanks Prank. It is a little hard to tell how they are different, but they don't look quite like mine. However, mine are tinted pretty heavily so probably look very different anyway. I've got yellow high beams and darkened low beams (possibly a slight blue/green tint).

The series 2 lights are slimmer like the R32 lights. The Series 1 lights are fatter and taller.

what years are series II 33's
And are the cosmetic differences the only change?
My guess would be 97 as thats when silvia/240sx light styles where changed (i think)

Series II R33's are from around '95 onwards.

Yes the only difference is the cosmetics/body of a Series 2 compared with a Series 1... engine and interior are the same.

Exstatic,
Wasn't it the other way around? The S1s had the ceramic and the S2s had a plastic one?

Series 2 had the following changes:

ECU
Turbo (cermic wheels)
Interior Trim
Interior facia
Front and rear ends updated (including different bonnet impressions)
Coil Packs
S2 came standard with a rear mounted strut brace.

I think theres more... will find out.

Series II has plastic, Series 1 has ceramic

The Series II are from mid 96 - mid 98.

clef.. im pretty sure that the s2 turbo had a plastic compressor wheel where the s1 turbo had a steel one.. the s2 spools better due to less weight but doesnt boost as much..

and prank didnt we see a end of 95 series 2 last week? ndr's one?.. i thought series 2 came in at the end of 95?

Well there are some '96 series 1s because they were still making them in 96 ..

The database on japimportcar.com backs me up on this too.

Series 1 ended in Jan '96, and series 2 started at the same time.
