You should be able to import it under the personal import scheme, not SEVS. Under the personal import scheme you have to be able to show that you have owned and had the car registered for at least a year for it to be eligible. I have also heard that it is alot easier than SEVS. SEVS is the general scheme for anybody in Aus to import a car and basically it has to be complied standard, so any modifications have to be removed beforehand.

As I said anyway, look for info on the personal import scheme, not SEVS.

I've read about that,its a good idea for you try_agn.Try using personal import..im stuck with probably having to remove all the running gear and taking it over.

I have a 1983 R30 Skyline. Are the same steps involved for getting it legal in aussie? even tho its 23 years old?

haha you are lucky.I read that cars made before 1990 dont need to be complied at all..just bring em in.Check the links provided above.
