Yay or nay? You either hate them or love them!

Me personally, I hate them, they're horribly inefficient and unreliable (with the exception of the Renesis) and have no actual benefits apart from making brap brap..

I don't mind them. They have there advantages and dis-advantges as an engine.

The main bit I don't like is there all most always so damn loud

They can spool a turbo that an RB would never spool. and they make impressive power considering the displacement they are. and I do love the sound of mad mikes RX7 but I think most people enjoy the sound of his car on full song.

But I would never own one myself.. expect for a batty with a JZ in it.. the Batty chassie is pretty good grip and handling wise..

Well I guess that's one benefit of being horribly inefficient and hard on emissions, they spool hard lmao. And yeah, they do, but I heard a 13B uses about the same fuel as a 2.7L - so when you compare the power a 13B produces to a RB25DE it's not all that impressive. But I can understand where you're coming from ;p

I dont mind them either, nether hate nor love, but I havent had a chance to play around with one yet, might do a bit later on down the track.  personally dont like the rotor sound when its going flat out, sounds weird but mad mikes car is a whole different story, can listen to that all day.

Some call it a rotary engine. Some call it Wankel engine, named after inventor Felix Wankel -

There is a minor difference between a wankel and just a rotary, as rotary just means a rotating combustion engine instead of the triangle shape like the wankel. But I didn't want to confuse people..

I rekon all in all theyre pretty gangsta, you cant say that the brap brap of a bridgeport+ engine makes isnt sick as. But as far as they go they aren't that impressive when it comes to reliability etc. for me the rx7 series 5 plus are so sick looking, id love one with an sr20det in it.

A Mate of mine has a S7 RX7 with a 13B in it, and a 650 Holly feeding it. Still using the ECU to do the ignition but he was sick of the efi as it fried 2 motors (faulty fuel pump)
It goes pretty well, and has a custom port (he's been doing it a while) that just sounds like a lumpy cam. It rev's to 13k..

I Do hate the posers that own them. Ones that have 50rwkw and are loud as ****

Pretty much what I was going to say.  The power they make for the fuel they use isn't that flash, all well and good spooling a big turbo but they also seem to need a bigger turbo than their piston engine counterparts to make the same power... possibly to the point of offsetting the spool.

I love them and hate them...

like them (mainly the batmobile) and hate them.

absolutely hate the barp barp sound. They don't actually need to sound like that to make power

Drove a friends tuned batmobile one time. handled like it was on rails and was seriously fast. was pretty quiet too.
AFK.

I hate the sound but as GETLOW was saying a batty with a JZ is a pretty sweet combo.

Oh obviously, if the RX7 was a piston engine it'd be the ****.

I'm mainly just talking about the motors. Like how people swap them in to bloody DX Corollas and 323/626s etc I don't get why they don't throw in a SR20/RB20 and actually produce some reliable efficient power..

^ people are doing that more and more - I think the amount of RB/SR swapped things running around seem to outnumber rotary swapped things these days.... or at least are far more comparable than say 5 or so years ago.

I think they're a great piece of engineering. when built properly they can take some abuse.
i always think of the 13b as a 1300cc motor. i dont see why some people are so negative, compare the motor to something like a 4k. in that error the motors where more than capable.
Its all personal preference on what motor to transplant or how loud we want our car. the whole reason me modify our cars to make them our own style.

here you go a 13b s14a sounds like a gun fight in Iraq
