ok so i didnt get any of the rear guards like i had planned because of **** weather and not being able to do to much. did how ever get the engine bay tidied up. surface rust was worse than i had though from the storm thrashing it and blowing the cover off. took awhile to remove it with a wire brush on a drill.

Than i thought i'd throw a sanding disc on the grinder and give the paint something to stick to and remove most of the crap. ( track car remember and no show room finish here. this is straight industrial black that sticks to anything like cum to a girls hair.

rubbed it down with thinners to remove any grease and dirt that might play a lil havoc to the paint and my paint gun was blocked fill of putty primer. (my own fault to lazy last time to clean it) spent 20mins cleaning it out and mixed some black up in the gun. BAM 1st coat went on pretty good.

Went inside had a coffee ****ed around on here for a lil then went out mixed up some more paint and BAM gave her another coat. Each coat consisted of a double or triple coat on most visible or wearable places like the towers and top of the firewall and guard edge.

Slow progress but its rust protected now.
so that's pretty much as far as i got, had to do 4 wheel bearings and light electrics and brakes on boats trailer before tomorrow.

Ok so wasnt very productive today, to hot sweated like a paedophile in a kindy. didnt even touch the rear guards yet. battled with getting the front suspension and everything back in for awhile and cross member. then dropped it back on the ground. thought i'd test fit the fronts and see how they line up. not to bad aswell. bit of work to get it looking nice but shouldnt be to bad.

Also got another price on a 8 point cage for $2,000

So while all my mates were all out have a blast smoking rubber at takanini skids i was slaving my *** off in the ****ing insane heat doing this.

Started cutting

Ground back to metal were i thought the 2 skins would meet and i'd eng in welding

Trimed it back and put some slits in the inner skin to make it easier to start to stretch te metal.

Started one side bashed it up tacked it went tab by tab, got 1/4 the way around then went and done the other side to keep the skin stretching even. tacked up like this

Then i tried to lay a weld, metal being stretched and panel steal my welder was to hot and was just making a hot + my masks way to dark, need to by a auto one. so ended up spot welding it all together around the arch

Trimmed all the excess panel steel off but left enough to be able to fold the lip to create a rounded lip to the tyre wont slice if it gets close to the edge.

Folded lip

This is the gap looking up in the guard between the factory body and the blister rears.

Blister rears sitting on

2 hours to do one in the ****ing heat sweating like a pedo and taking photos along the way. still got my other one to do.

haha welding wasn't the hard bit, swinging the hammer was the stuff that got my dripping!! overalls came off for that job.

got the good old sunburnt eye lids from tacking the skins together. used a mask after it was all tacked up and spot welding it all.

ok so battled with the door gaps again and fitting the guard. but managed to get it to close and keep the guard mounted in the jamb and rivet inside the door jamb. wanted to see some progress on my days work so throw on a guard and bumpers for a perv and how its going to look eventually. Fitment is pretty good on the kit as well. had to lift the doors and adjust them out as far as they go but its awesome!
