C33 Laurel fresh import
« on: October 13, 2013, 02:37:44 PM »
Well this is now sitting in my driveway.  Got a mate who imports from Japan and he brought this in for me.  Hopefully it's not too hard to comply, just some rust in the engine bay from what must have been a leaky battery.

Rest of the car is very mint.  Only 30,500km!

Just a simple RB20E, going to use it as a daily driver.

Tidy car! Is it eligible to be road registered?

Yes, as it's more than 20 years old.

Ok will do next time the car is outside (just parked it in the garage).  Interior is mint, it even had some factory seat covers that kind of looked like lace curtains.  I took them off and put them through the wash, not sure if I'll put them back on as they make the car look very grandpa-spec.

Engine bay needs a clean but it's basically just dusty.

These pics were taken in Japan after I won the auction.  The camera is some piece of crap that makes everything look washed out and faded.

Wow, i looked at doing this, but unless you have contacts it looks to be pretty pricey. My mates dad mate does this and we where going to import but i had to wait for him to get enough money so he could import a GTR at the same time. Im too impatient :( haha.

Technically it's not worth it.  Even if it breezes through compliance it will have cost me more than I could sell it for.  So far it's $1150 for the car and around $3000 for shipping, fees, customs to get it to my place.

I bought it for myself though, not to make money on it.

That's why you do it, mates GTR is costing him about $12k by the time he gets it paneled and registered, so there are bargains to be had :)

Yeah man, I would still be keen on stock 20DET manual one but that's pretty unrealistic. Any man such a sick car!

This is why there are no clean C33s in NZ. Please keep it tidy!
