rb25 +t anyone up to the play on compliance
« on: May 31, 2014, 01:17:30 PM »
Someone told me ,because I'm going to +t that Ill have to change my hubs to 5 stud and upgrade the brakes ,I also think this is a good idea because of the hp increase but don't fancy having to do this at the same time mainly because of the cost at this moment in time If anyone has the info on this please post it up.
Cheers

i did brakes on my +T but not 5 stud, to this day it is still 4 stud....was a dumb move as it limits what wheels you can get...

I guess you mean for insurance purposes. If you are really worried do the 5 stud conversion and brakes first and save up for the +T and cert later.

5 Stud with upgraded brakes wont be required for your conversion, only difference would be (as said above) there are more wheel options in 5 Stud,

also although I believe the rules state that cert is required for brake changes, I converted my non turbo cefiro to 5 stud and never failed any warrants (including VTNZ) without Cert. Could be something you look at down the track.

the law for adding a turbo to your stock engine is you need drive shaft hoops and turbo heat sheild. that is all
5 stud is only needed when adding weight.
check out the lvva web site

but if ur in chch don hoff makes up his own rules

for the record my car was certed with only 4 stud single pots.
since been upgraded to 5 stud, cert plate says OEM brakes so people just think its factory

so in other words, no you will not require bigger brakes for certing a +t

all the ($1) stuff was brought in one auction.

stock fuel rail 375cc injectors (6)$80-90,(seal and filter kit to be ordered)
assorted fuel and oil lines return pipe fuel reg other bits and pieces $1
spare coil pack(6)$80
alloy j pipe $1
stock bov $30
Stock induction hose $1

1200 deg black exhaust wrap $20 and ss ties might need another wrap
ecu $60 might just chip my ecu as they do one now for the r33 auto  $129
Sump $50 going to mod (baffled)
Installed a front strut brace $80
so far around $700+ and a fair few hours stripping and cleaning, and smoothing intakes ,exhausts etc.. already and a few more to go.I have also sold a few bits about $400 worth so hasn't cost as much as it looks.
I think that's about it, not going for big hp so don't need best of everything ,I'd get a 2 door for that

other extras needed
Drive shaft hoops
also thinking about a battery relocation before turbo install
would like a full plumbing kit and new radiator hoses oil lines and new thicker radiator ,cat and back exhaust going to get built etc.. approx $600 all up
not sure if this is necessary but  Cylinder Head Oil Drain Kit ,bigger throttle body
and maybe a oil breather ,what your thoughts

have also done ,not to do with engine
stereo mid range single din and pocket and replaced all the speakers 6" & 6x9" $240 sub to come all, installed by me after you tube time and the forums here ,it sometimes may seem dumb but it pays to ask..the tricks the guys told me about door panels worth its weight in gold
4 alloys rims 16" $31, cost about $250 to strip clean paint all done by me.
40 mm lowered struts and springs $100-120 ,$80 installed, as at the time dislocated my shoulder
25 mm rear wheel spacers new with inserts $80
also have complete gt boot with struts wiring mid light and spoiler which i was going to rob spoiler but not sure might just find a roof spoiler..
tomorrow dent devil is taking out all the shopping trolley dings

Buy the way My brothers and I are keen to find a cheap 32,33 to build a track day car or 2k cup car in the new year, So interested in WHY !!!!

One of me rotors had a crack so replaced both $320 for both, while replacing rotors i pulled calipers off ,cleaned up ,cleaned pots, wire wheeled all the !@$# off ground down all the casting burs and lines etc, checked seals ,painted silver put back together, new fluid  , bled , braking is a lot stronger now , going to carry on with +t.
Got it tuned this morn replaced all the belts, water pump ,seals etc at same time pullin like a cut cat again water pump seams a bit louder, might be because its working properly lol.
