30e transplant.
« on: August 26, 2014, 12:00:12 AM »
Does anyone know the full story behind engine swapping a 20e to a 30e? What would I need in regard to parts, and is there any wiring or electronics such as the ECU that needs to be changed? In my mind I wouldn't think so seeing as the difference between the two (As far as my knowledge goes) is mechanical and wouldn't need changes like an ECU to run nicely - but in saying that I have no clue hahaha :p

Presumably the 50% larger engine would flow more air require more fuel so probably need a 30E ECU... look for the pinouts for the two ecus and compare them.

Bumping this to try get more information, hoping to suss one out before April. So far, to my knowledge, the only thing needed for a 20E-to-30E conversion is a 30E ECU (guessing from an R31?) and the engine itself, everything else is relatively bolt on. Has anyone done this/know someone who has/have knowledge on this topic? Hoping to have all the doubts wrinkled out ASAP!

Haven't gone into buying stuff yet, hahah. My mate bought a C33 with a 30e in it, which as 20e intake and exhaust on it. According to a Facebook Mechanic (which we all know is probably talking 20 yards of bs) the 30e runs better on a 20e loom with full 20e intake + exhaust and distributor. The dizzy seems somewhat truthful but a full 20e intake seems a bit pointless apart from the AFM.
