Port and Polish - Any good services in AKL?
« on: September 10, 2015, 11:13:09 PM »
Hey guys,

Finally getting the 30DE build underway, first step is to get the head ported and polished. Does anyone know a good company or guy to go through for this? Price is no object, if I don't have the cash now I'll wait til I do. Prefer great workmanship over price, and in Auckland :)

Cheers!

if money is no object why limit yourself to Auckland?

I would look at Hartley Engines and Motorsport or Kelford, you won't notice the price of shipping when you see the price of a port and polish from anywhere.
god is just an imaginery friend for grown ups

I was referred to Takanini Cylinder Heads, apparently they're good with what they do. I've sent an email to the two you've provided westy, just waiting for a reply on a quote now :)

The Head shop in Palmy are doing some good head work with RBs and have Dyno figures to back this up. If money is no object then they are most probley a good bet.
Im not sure where Snow is in Palmy these days (He did own Kiwi Cams) but he has a wide range of knowledge with Rbs. He always did my grandads cams.

My advice would be to stay away from hytech... And I would look into what the rb30 guys in Aussie are doing. Running single can heads for 8 second passes.
I'm using a rb25de head with 13psi with 400rwkw. I've heard of plenty stories of small gains for huge porting costs...
