No boost
« on: October 28, 2015, 05:59:17 PM »
Okay background. R32 GTR. Basic mods nothing flash. Have recently had new clutch and new hoses put thru out.
I picked it up from the panel beaters yesterday and as you do.. Gave it a bit of jandel.
Went great, this afternoon went to go for a drive and I've got no boost at all. Turned it straight off thinking exhaust wheels off a turbo...

Has anyone got any other ideas, things to check?

Thanks in advance for your help

Still idles fine . Runs good just no boost. Have check all the hoses seem to be tight and sealed. No oil in the hoses so not oil seals in turbo

Boost leaks are hard to find. Need to make up a plug and pressure test it with an air hose.

If it's idling fine it could still be turbos. A mate here just had r32 gtr fail and it made a very quiet pop noise. We searched for boost leaks/intercooler piping thinking a pop was most likely that. He took his cat off and found the rear turbo blades sitting in it. If you still have a standard exhaust it might be an easy way of checking to see if yours has done the same thing. When my rear turbo failed it sucked the fins and and seized the engine very quickly so hopefully that hasn't happened to yours

Can anyone recommend what pressure to test it up to?

Just a little above what you normally run - say 20 psi

Okay have pressured up the system and put a manometer on it. It is leaking.... Traced it back to one of the bob return pipes.. Now to find one to replace it.

Cheers guys for the help hopefully this is the problem not just one of them
